Hey guys i have a weird problem. not so much weird but aggravating. on my rack 2.0 NT there are 2 smalls lines underneath the rack there's one that goes from one side of the rack to the other. now it recently started to leak bucket full. now my question is i got the line off the pain in the ass one that's up under the chassis where the steering connects not the 2 on the top. but the line on the bottom of those. i saw there was an o-ring i replaced the o ring and it still leaks! would there be any reason for this? anyone ever see a line getting a pinhole or something in it? or is the rack shot? i am stumped right now.

I bottomed my car and somehow managed to crack both of those lines. Dont know if was caused by bottoming out or it was just a coincidence, but i had to replace the whole rack. I found a USED one for 200 bucks. Not sure how much it will be for you up in coal country.

is there specific reason why i would have to change the whole rack for just those lines? i mean the line can be removed. i just cant understand why it still leaks after i replaced the o-ring just on that one side. i am going to have to take the line back off and check for cracks for pin holes. but when i had it out the first time i put one hand on one side and blew on the other and no air escaped from anywhere unless it just was not enough pressure? i mean if i have to replace the rack i will. this is just a dumb leak that might take some tinkering.

Well, i wasn't about to spend the ridiculous price the dealer wanted, and i didn't/couldn't find a good donor for those lines. So i just said f$ck it, i will just buy a good used rack. And this one i have hasn't given me any problems since. I would say i made out.

well i have a doner for those lines. as far i know i think i do. i hope we are talking about the same lines. i am going to have to take a picture tomorrow. so you guys can see. i will post up how i m make out tomorrow. thanks for some of the input on this.

Yes. We are talking about the same lines. It carries the power steering fluid from the one side to the other to keep the gear lubricated. It a high pressure line. There cannot be any leaks or your power steering will diminish or the seize from lack of fluid.
