Of course you all know i just got my gsx like 4 days ago and i wanna get it slammed already. Really only have the money to try and get the car through inspection and running right. So for right now i wanna just put coilovers on the stock struts. I know with hondas its terrible , and with the gsx i want everything legit, but i hate riding stock height. How are the stock struts under this stress? Will be ok for a little?

Any suggestions/comments

We put the getto lowering springs from ebay on my friends gst with stock struts. Personally with the tall spoiler and how low the car ended up being it looked like the cross between a shoping kart and a go-kart. also it handled like a go-kart with no suspension flex. Good for cornering, bad for any tinny little bump in the road. Do yourself a favor and just save up for a good set of coilovers. Honestly the car sat too low and we had to put it back to stock just so we could put an exhaust on the car without it rubbing the ground.

Lowering your car on stock shocks will blow them to smitherines. And even if they do last some unknown period of time before this failure the performance and ride quality could possibly be worse than stock.

Don't take short cuts. Save up the cash for a good setup, no one cares that your car is "still stock" or has "ugly wheel gap" or whatever it is.

If you love your car, you'll do the right thing. Save up for Koni Sports and Ground Control adjustable coilovers.

Oh, and one last thing, if you care at all about your car's performance, a 2.0-2.5" drop is absolutely out of the question. When you've dropped that low, you've decreased travel to a point of detriment, your suspension can't articulate the way it was intended, and there are few suspension setups that can even take that abuse. And none under $1000. Be prepared for poor handling and blown equipment.

But this all depends on your goals. If you just want to pick up chicks or something, sure slam it. But if you're in this game for any real performance I suggest you drop no more than 1-1.5", with a good setup ( Koni + GC or JIC etc) you might be able to go a hair lower.
