I think my front crankshaft seal is leaking. There is oil everywhere under my car. I'm putting some UV dye in tomorrow to be sure. I have oil clear from the driver side wheel hub all the way over to the transmission drain plugs. 4 quarts of oil in less than 3 weeks leaked out. I had some leaking oil before, but nothing this bad. I can't even begin to pin point where it's all coming from right now. I'd have to scrub the whole bottom end.
But back to my question, can the seal be replaced with the engine still in the car?
I have next week off. If I have to pull the engine, I'm going to clean it and do the whole timing belt and B/S removal while it's out (and maybe a few coats of high-temp paint). Otherwise, I'll save that until later this summer when the garage is finished (instead of in a dirty, mid-sized tool shed).
