My car was running fine. then suddenly while getting off the freeway, it just started idling really rough. Since then, my car can't keep an idle hot or cold, I have to keep giving gas or it dies. The idle is very rough but it doesn't wander high and low. and RPM above 2000 the car runs fine.

Its a 1997 Eclipse GS Automatic non turbo 2.0L DOHC

I changed the plugs ,plug wires, tested coil, test throttle level sensor, cleaned TB and IAC,
Tested compression 165 170 170 180 psi

I can't figure it out.

Also, where is Biss, do some 2Gs not have them? where is mass air flow sensor?
How do you test IAC that have 4 pins?

Help is very welcome!

It is most likely the idle air control motor, cleaning it doenst really do much.. you should test it with an ohm meter... It could be the TEMP sensor, but doubted. check your injectors also

the 2g non turbos do not have a BISS, nor do they have a MAS

Update;

Its 11:53 Pacific time and I figured it out. My EGR valve is bad and leaking vacuum at the base of a hose connecter.

I cleaned out the EGR with Carb Cleaner and It Idles ok. Next, I sprayed Carb Cleaner at the leak while engines on and bam! It idled perfectly!

Thanks to everyone who participate in a forum, whether you post your problem or try to help, this wealth of info helps people solve their problems.

I knew it could be the EGR valve because I read about it several times in other posts.

Thanks!
