So I was driving to work to day with the A/C on full blast and the car started to over heat. I changed the thermostat not to long ago , And right now it's about 84 out and super humid, could it just be that is really hot out and I have a front mount in front of the radiator? also it just started to over heat when i got into a parking ramp.

Stupid question here but did you get the same temp thermostat or a higher temp one. the higher temp one that are like 10 deg higher usually make the engine run 15 deg hotter or more on your gauge. Example say like here a 180 temp one runs 215-224 here so a 190 would run 240 or so just an example. next thing you might want to try is let the car cool down an open the radiator and watch to see if the coolant circulates when it heats up. and rev it some to see if you have a lot of flow. That should let you know 1 if the water pump is working or the radiator is clogged up. an sorry is i missed spelled something spell check wont work.

I got a oem thermostat, I switched it out awail ago maybe 6 months, never had a issue with over heating with it until now when i turned the ac on. my logger temp got to 233-239 and the oem gauge was going up. Also i just got done putting cams in and i didnt swap the water pump ... so it might be the water pump going :( well ill have to wait and find out....

its probably not fmic since i know many ppl running the stock radiator with a big fmic with no overheating problems. for now id sweat it out and not use the a/c until the problem is fixed. are the fans turning on? id do a coolant flush and use 70% water and 30% coolant with a bottle of wetter water.

Just something else to check. If you have the slightest leak, over a short amount of time you will have air in the ystem. I had a heater hose, it only leaked when I was turning, how odd. Once that was fixed I was golden, good luck.

how about your fan did it turn on, becuz when u turn your a/c on your fan is suppose to turn on and keep the temperatures down. 1gs have a switch and turn on the fan when the a/c is on, 2g should have the same thing i think, unless u changed your fans and didn't wire it back up for the a/c. Does it still overheat if u don't have that a/c on?

My fan was coming on, but my car was still overheating. I bought a Visteon Radiator, and wired it to an on and off switch, so I turn my fan on whenever my car gets about halfway on the temp gauge. The guy who I bought my car from took out the Ac in my car.

Time to upgrade the rad. My car was fine till we got into the 90s with the ac off. Then it started getting hot.

Try getting a 10 degree lower thermostat an see how it works since its only 5 bucks.

A thermostat doesn't cool an engine, it only regulates how warm it will stay. All the cooling is done by the radiator. DSMs want their stock, fairly-high running temperature in order that the ECU will stay as happy as Vince Vega.
Overheating six months into a new thermostat would make me suspicious that the new thermostat has failed.
