ok i just had a few questions about the internals on my engine. as you can see there pretty bad but idk for sure. Do you guys think I should replace everything? rods, pistons, valves, etc. ?? it is a 7 bolt all stock with about 83,000 miles on it. i plan on getting around 350-400 hp out of it. also im trying not to blow all my money as well so im not looking for crazy rebuild parts. thanks for your help.

FIRST:
Fix your pics... You need to log-in to Myspace in order to view 'em --> NOT

Second:
Did you take any compression readings BEFORE you pulled the head & block apart?

Third:
What condition is the Thrust bearing in? -Wasn't the '95 7-bolts voted the MOST likely to crank walk?

Fourth:
What killed it in the first place? -Timing belt?

1. my bad

2. no i didnt take any readings.

3.have no clue and yes I believe there were.

4.Nothing

ok heres the deal. I have an extra 6 bolt longblock with intake manifold. I did a little research and asked a local shop and the said instead of building the 6 bolt, just rebuild your 7 bolt engine since it would be much easier than getting the other to work. I listened and started taking things out. I havent bought ne parts yet so I can still go either way. My current engine ran find, I just wanted to start fresh in a sense. what you route you think would be wise for a beginer such as myself? thanks

From what I can tell, it looks like #1 & #4 were starting to burn a little bit of oil... Looking at the head, the intake valve stem seals appear to be leaking -Get that thing resurfaced, multi-angle valve job, and new valve stem seals and you should be able to keep your existing head, provided that it's not totally warped.

As for the block, I'd look into the thrust bearing first... Let that be a deciding factor in the route you want to take. Personally, I went with a 6-bolt motor over a 7-bolt but being a 1G, it's a LOT easier to do the swap then in a 2G.

-Find out how the 7-bolt crank & thrust bearing are doing and take it from there.
