I'm looking for a boost controller that has multiple memory settings and a boost gauge. Plus I want something that’s not super expensive. So what does that leave me with? Greddy or HKS?

I bought a HKS EVC VI for my ex's EVO. It has 2 memory settings and boost gauge reads in PSI too. Wish I could get it back. The question is do you want to spend nearly $600?

Blitz EBC's have a built in boost gauge. My DSBC has 4 different boost settings (more than I need).

yea but dsm link can't increase boost can it? I was looking at the greddy one to match my turbo timmer. I will be going out and buying another gauge later when I have a grand or so to spend. I would rather do all my gauges at once.

i have the greddy Profec b Spex II, i have not used it yet thought LOL, im thinking about selling it and just going with a MBC

The Profec B Spec II is relatively cheap (around $300), and easy to use. 2 preset levels and it can read in psi. 25 psi seems to be about the most it wants to hold for me (setup for internal wastegate), but if you aren't trying to push more than that it should be fine.

Just speaking from experience, I wouldn't go with a EBC.

I had a GReddy Profec B, and it worked beautifully. About 3 months down the road, I noticed that my "LO boost" setting had creeped up about 2.5psi. So I turned it back down and went on with things. About another 3 months down the road, I was messing with some tool in a LS1, I hit my "Oh-so-cool" remote switch on my steering wheel to use my high boost setting and it boosted up to 28psi when I had it set for 18psi!

I pulled into a gas station, and just gave her a quick once over (28lbs on MY HG I know would be disastrous) and then went about my day. I had since put it back to "LO boost."

Now, for back story, my boost gauge is a little screwy. All my gauges when I turn the car on, max out, go to zero, then start reading. My boost guage likes to stick when I start the car, so the only way to get it to read is to hammer it a little bit to build boost enough to make it bounce back.

The day after the LS1 incident, I started up my car, and my gauge stuck as usual. When I pulled out on to the road, I got on it a little bit to fix the gauge...and nothing happened. It coughed and sputtered like a...ya know. It felt like I had popped an ICP or something. When we took it up to the shop, it took us 2 hours to figure out that for some odd reason the EBC was sticking the wastegate open. Called GReddy and the only help they could offer was to sell me a new one...no thanks.

I've since switched to an eBay special MBC and have had not ONE issue with it. I think it cost a total of $11 after shipping.

Moral of the story? GReddy is run by a bunch of butt holes and EBC's are a huge waste of money.

You're badmouthing all EBC's because the Greddy one broke on you? Right. As a reminder, Greddy also sells us intercooler kits which cost almost a grand and is less effective than a SSAUTOCHROME kit that goes for less than $500. Name brands are for narrow-minded people. However, I do stand by my AVC-R to the fullest. Apexi knew what they were doing.

I bad mouth EBC's because of my luck with them as well as others I know. EBC's in my opinion are best for show cars and cars that aren't driven daily. I've seen too many fail for me to give ANY brand a THUMBS UP.

Daily driven non show car here. I had a manual boost controller before; I hated having to stop, get out, and open the hood to adjust my boost setting. I also wanted two different settings that could be switched on the fly. :thumb: Since the title did ask for options rather than opinions, here's a few more choices:

Boost Control

Boost Controllers

You get the idea; there's a lot to choose from.

The Apexi AVCR is used by mainly fwd cars right? I wouldn't be able to use it to its full potential because I'm awd right? I'm not doing a mbc. I rather not deal with opening my hood each time I wanna change boost levels. I want to be able to set it for daily driving then switch it when I get to the track.

Uhm...no. FWD benefit more from it because the boost is controllable at RPM intervals. If you build enough boost off the line to spin a FWD (which is like very common), then you could lower the amount of boost off the line and retain traction. AWD doesn't need the feature as much because well, it's AWD. More traction, but if they do spin tires as well, AWD can use the AVC-R to lower boost off the line as well. It's a nice feature, but if I had to choose between getting an AVC-R or an AWD, I'd go with AWD.

Which ebc do you guys like the best? Apexi Super AVC-R or GReddy PRofec B-Spec II or HKS Generation 6 EVC?

im in the same boat I run a external gate looking at a electronic controller looking towards the hks and the greddy or avcr I dont like the 30 sec of high boost with the greddy can this be changed?
