I'm going to tentitavley say yes.

All 1g's used the 4g63 in one way or another.

No the N/T bellhousing is smaller than the turbo transmission's bellhousing and a Turbo flywheel and clutch will not fit in the smaller transmission.

All transmissions 90 to 99 from TURBO FWD cars are interchangeable. They'll bolt right up. As spoonman said tho...n/a as well as AWD trannys are NOT interchangable.

Well... You could technically use the N/T flywheel and clutch combo to make it work if you just need something to get you around while your other tranny is being rebuilt or something. But I do believe the gear ratios are shorter.

So say I want the best stock FWD trans from 90-99 for my 90 gst what year transmission is the best to start with?

It's hard to say with a FWD, probably a late 91 early 92, apparantly the evoIII gearsets will drop right in. However a late tranny (93+) has larger axle shafts, and a evoII gearset can be put in with some extra work. best to call a transhop and ask them which they recomend to build.

there is a difference in the brackets from a 90 to 91+ that you will have to change

Please correct me if I am wrong here. I was under the impression that the number of splines on the 'half-shafts' (axles) is different between the turbo transmission and non-turbo transmission. I refer to the transmission input end, not the hub end.

In a 1st gen all FWD turbo transmissions (F5M33) are interchangeble, 1st or 2nd generations. But you can't swap a 1st gen trans into a 2nd gen. All FWD transmission parts are interchangeable from 90-99, and someone please correct me if im wrong but you can even use parts from a AWD trans. Im rebuilding a 2G trans right now.

can u tell what i need to do with this i have a 1gb(94) tranny went out and i bought a 2g tranny swapped it no problem but the axles are 2 small 4 the tranny side ....the 94+ is suppose to have the bigger spindle right im lost
