2 of my 5 bolts that hold my transfer case to the transmission have stripped threads.
The 2 stripped holes are the bottom long bolts that are furthest away from the drive shaft.
The transfer case is on there pretty good and wont come out. Im just worried it might need to be tighter.

My question is if not all the bolts are tight could fluids leak past between the transmission and transfer case? Or would there only be a leak if a seal went bad in the first place?
From looking at it I wouldn't think any fluid would be going near there since its just a shaft into the transfer case and there is no gasket to begin with.
Thanks

No fluids will leak out because there isn't any fluid between the transfer case and transmission in the first place. I wouldn't drive around with only 3 bolts holding the thing on, however.

thanks, any ideas on how to get the bolts to fasten? I guess I'll have to get a helicoil kit.

its 12mmx1.25 extra fine thread which will probably have to be ordered online :(
I was really hoping to be able to drive home this weekend to go with a friend to Kentucky to buy a car.
Also i dont have a drill here to drill the threads left in there out to insert the helicoil

They make special sockets for getting out stripped bolts. Check out your local craftmans dealer. I own a set they come in handy all the time.

yeah they are very handy. But we have the threads stripped inside the holes :(

It's aluminum, just go get a heli-coil kit for the right threads of the factory bolts and fix all 5 holes by drilling them out and inserting the heli-coils, it will be stronger than ever before and won't strip again :)

Just take one of your bolts to the hardware or auto parts store to make sure you get the right heli-coil kit.

apparently auto stores carry 12x1.5 but no 12x1.25 awesome! they carry up to 9x1.25 then no more for x1.25
