Boost/Timing Question With 14b

Im currently running 24-25 pounds of boost with all supporting mods to support it, with a
14b ,sbr front mount, fuel, chip, ect ect.. and have no knock. Only thing is I am on the stock exhaust (without cat).

My question is, on the stock exhaust I think I would be more efficient with say 20 pounds of boost and more timing than 24 pounds and less timing.

Yeah I think that would probably be the case. You also might notice that you're having a harder time holding higher boost levels once you upgrade your turboback. Once it's easier for the engine to exhale it will be able to ingest more air, which means the turbo will have to work harder to keep up with the demand so to speak, if that makes any sense. Also, when you're running right in your compressor's efficiency range you can run much more timing than when you start to overboost and push hot air. That being said, I would see what you could get away with as far as timing with 24 psi. With a big frontmount you might be able to get some good numbers before you start knocking. If you have dsmlink you could just make two tunes, one for lower boost and higher timing, one for higher boost lower timing and then run them back to back at the track, see what tune traps higher.
