To give a little it of background, about a week ago my battery light and parking brake light started to come one every once in awhile very dimly. It would shut off every now and then. Checked all grounds and they seemed to be fine. The within the past few days it started to stay on constant and began draining my battery. So thought it was the alternator because we all know the wonderful history of our alternators. Put a new one in tonight jump the car and the battery almost immediately as soon as I shut it off. Then I had one window down started to put it up and the voltage went from 10.3 to about 6.8 when I would push the window button down. Then when I would let go it would bump back up then finally just died. When the car was dead the turbo timer would just sit there and flash with no display and I could hear the ecu clicking on and off. Anyone have any theories or ideas.

That sounds like a shorted battery or a poor connection to me. The reason is that a fully charged battery has 12.5-12.8 volts. A discharged car battery should never have less that 11.8 volts. At 10.3 volts, sounds like a dead cell to me. Then again, a poor connection can confuse you if you don't check voltage right on the battery. If you measured 10.3 volts right on the battery, you can try to charge it to see if it comes back, you might get lucky. If you have a poor conection at the battery, it might give you the same problem.

Thank you for the response I'll go rip walmart off a battery tomorrow. So if the battery has a dead cell it will still charge up but will discharge quickly because my battery will drop even when I'm driving. It will start out at 13.1 but by the time i'm done driving it will be closer to 11.5 or lower.

Well if your battery starts out at 13+ volts, but discharges ti 11 or so volts, it seems you have a charging system problem. With the car running at idle, what's the voltage at the battery?

12.8 to 13.0 I think its definately a combination of the two systems i think its killing the alternator to keep on charging up the battery so much it just recently started though i had a alternator belt snap because the nut decided it didnt want to stay on the guide bolt its only started since then but the battery is a walmart battery as well i already have a warranty alternator coming tomorrow and while im there i mine as well get an optima
