ok so my tach seems to get stuck at random times. Most of the time its when i floor it up around 5k rpm. My engine is still revving up but my tach just stays at 5k or so rpm. It also does this when i turn it on in the morning the tach stays at 0 till the engine warms up or till it feels like working again. I really dont wanna get another tach. I just wanna fix the stock one. So i was wondering what i could check to try to fix this. Thanks

Thats true. But I am pretty sure these cars are like cars with the speed sensors on the transmission. They convert it some how to rpm. So what I really ment was the speed sensor system. If you have an extra guage cluster put it in and the problem should be fixed because everything to do with the speed sensor sytem is in the guage cluster except for the cable.

Yeah, my friend had a problem with his speedometer not working and we had an extra tranny with one on it so we took it off and it fixed the problem.

ok but if it was something on the cluster wouldnt it be bad all the time. Because it does this at random times and only at high rpm. I dont have an extra cluster so is there anyother way i could test to see if its the cluster or maybe something else. Thanks.

I doubt it's anything to do with sensors or the cluster, I'd look toward the car's mechanics since it does it at different times not at all times.

Forget about my other post. I found out on these cars the tach signal comes from the ignition transistor module. So check that and the wiring going to it.
