PCV valve is on the top of the valve cover. Could be lots of reasons that its smoking. HG, valves, turbo, piston rings.

If your compression is good then whats the reasoning behind switching head gaskets?

white smoke is coolant. usually a head gasket, a compression test will tell if ## rings and valve train are good or not, a leak down test will tell if your headgasket is blown

PCV valve is located on the back-passenger side of the valve cover. I think it's a 14mm. Unscrew it from the VC and pull it off the hose. Try blowing through it from the hose side. If you can blow anything (*anything*) through it, it's leaking. It's a check-valve, so it's supposed to let air go from the VC to the IM under vaccuum, but it's supposed to seal when the IM sees boost. If it's leaking (the wrong way), you boost your crankcase.

If you need to replace it, pick up an OEM one from a Mitsu dealership for $8 and change. Don't get one from Autozone/Carquest/etc. as they will not seal under boost even brand new.

If your compression is good, I'd figure out what's causing the smoke before you potentially waste a lot of time and money pulling the head.

Is the smoke truly white or does it have a bit of a blue color to it? White is coolant, blue-white is oil. Does it smoke all the time or only under load?

Its a little blue. I'm stil confused about all the smoke. It smokes a ton when I'm stopped at a stop light and it smeels like burned oil bigtime.

Before I jump into changing my headgasket how do I do a leakdown test to see if its the culprit? What else could it be?

Do you actually see the blue smoke out the back of the pipe when stopped? Or just smell it? It may just be a leak dripping on the exhaust if you only smell it.

Once again... you have good compression values. And from the other thread we suggested you check you r turbo seals. It doesn't sound like its your engine. It "could" be the valve seals... but I would check your turbo first.

when you get on it does blue tinted smoke come out the back.. cause mine did a while ago and it was because of a bad valve cover gasket?.. you could also have a leak somewere but sounds like oil is be burned

well I have a 16g ready to go on with a fmic. Should I install it and then see how it goes? When I get on it nothing comes out. Jut when I'm at a stop and then take off or if I'm sitting to long.

When I sit too long it has a bluish tint to it but its mainly white. I've noticed that my exhaust tip is getting covered with black stuff if it helps any.

I dont know if the car has the original t25 that it came with but the car has 165,400 miles. If I take down the do and look into it would I be able to tell if is the turbo?

I wouldn't go changing the head gasket just yet. I'd do a leak down test first as your compression looks good & it doesn't sound like its the source of your problem.

Just a caution note, if you pull the PCV valve to check it, just make sure to be careful when installing it & not use alot of fource as our valve covers are known to crack easily.

Leakdown testing

I'd hold off on installing the turbo and FMIC until you figure out what the problem is. You may introduce additional problems installing them which would just complicate the process of fixing the current problem. Usually, a shot turbo will leak oil predominantly under boost.

And the blue-white smoke is definitely coming from the exhaust, not from the engine bay?
