I have a 6 bolt 4G63 all apart waiting on me to do something with it. I had decided to buy Eagle H-Beam Rods, and 2.0L Ross, or Wiseco Pistons but I've now decided to purchase a 6 bolt 2.4L crank from the junk yard not to far from here. So I figured I'll build me a 2.3L Stroker. I've sifted through threads, and sites and just want to know who has the best deal, price, combo value for the Stroker Pistons (Rings/Pins) and H-Beam Rods (Bearings)?

I just wouldnt want to go spend $900 on my parts and then after I receive them find another site/reseller who has them for $750... if you understand what I'm saying.

I also know as a rule of thumb you dont bore your cylinders to match your pistons but just to see some peoples input... Would it be best to buy the .020 Stroker Pistons and bore out the cylinders? I know that Mitsu sells 86mm Pistons for the 4G63 so I know going .020 over isnt going to hurt anything. I also know that quite a few people here run .040 and even .060 pistons without any problems. I'm just mearly looking for input.

Also what bearings would I need for the 4G64 6 bolt crank in my 92 4G63 block??

Your best bet is to just look over the big named sites. See who has what prices, and whoever has the general best prices, or whoever you'd rather deal with, get them to match the price, or see if they cut a deal for buying a lot of stuff at once. Generally they don't have a lot of room to budge on many things. And even if you think you have a big order going in at 1000$, theres always some other dsm nut spending 3000 that makes your order look piddley.

Yea no joke. But I'm not going to buy things I dont need just to say "I spent 10k on my car!" Just useless.

Thats not my point. My point was don't go in expecting them to cut you a big deal because you're dropping 1k at once, when people do that everyday. Find the deals and a vendor you like and have at it.

..ps beit 1k or 3, it doesn't go that far in the chase for bigger numbers.

The most expensive part will probably be my Turbo + Piping. But I've basicly mapped out my budget and I know I can get the bottom end, and top end done for $2650 without the turbo/piping. But I'm going to do the bottom end first then the top end later.

SBR has a nice stage 1 stroker kit for $1300. It comes with 2.3L crank, new or reman'd which ever you want. Your choice of rods, and pistons, as well as Clevite main/rod bearings. I personally like the ACL tri-metal bearings. They stand the test of being beat on, due to the steel backing, and they have lead and copper for soft metals to be forgiving, and not be ripped to shreads like aluminum bearings if clearances aren't tight enough between the rod, and bearing.

As far as boring goes.
Bring the block to a machine shop, find out if needs to be bored or it can just be honed. Once you find that out, and they say it needs to be honed, have them hone the least amount possible so there is more material between the cylinders, and coolant passages ( less apt to crack), and have them match the pistons to the cylinders.

Well, I dont need a crank. I just want to find the Pistons/Rings, Rods, Bearings, Gasket, and the head studs. I've been looking at the top sites and so far as of right now ExtremePSI has the cheapest Rods and Pistons/Rings.

I dunno if I'm allowed to post names or not... So if not, should a moderator please edit this...

I have compared some prices and this is what I've determined. After contacting TurboGarage about some parts I was quoted $1000 for:

- Wiseco 2.3L "Stroker" 6 Bolt Pistons
- Eagle H-Beam 6 Bolt Rods.
- Clevite Main and Rod bearings.

Then I checked with ExtremePSI and totaled $812 (without any combo/discount) for the exact same items, or $788 substituting the Wiseco brand pistons with Mahle.

I've contacted ExtremePSI to see if I buy an entire shortblock kit if there is any discount offered or if it is already included in their prices. So far they seem to be doing a really good job with their online store. None the less this is a good price and I do believe I'll be buying my engine stuff from them.

I did a little more checking and found these prices at CI Motorsports!

Pistons:
- Wiseco: K571M85 $429.99
- Mahle: 130366 $459.99
- Manley: 607005-4 $399.99
- JE: 202194 $519.99

Rods:
- Eagle H-Beam: CRS5900MA3D $309.99
- SCAT H-Beam: SCT-2-5906-1771-1113-827 $309.99
- Manley H-Beam: 14021-4 $359.99

Bearings:
- Clevite Rod Bearings 4G63: $39.99
- Clevite Main Bearings 4G63: $57.99

Crankshaft:
- 4G64 Reman Crank: 13930 $329.99
