ok so i was just wondering if it was safe to drive without a rear motor mount. Im going to install it i just need the car till the parts come in. I will not be driving hard or anything just normal every day driving. thanks.

I guess you could if you had no choice, BUT! I would never do it personally. Have you ever seen how much the engine pivots when you shift. 1g rear mounts are on the block, 2g is on the trans. So I woudl think your putting a lot more stress on every other mount driving it like that. Also might wear out the other 3 mounts.

I would just wait IMO.

I had no other car before I came back on active duty when my passenger side motor mount went out. I had no reverse because of this, I drove it for approx. a month like that. By the time I got around to changing my motor mount the other three were wore out extremely bad, oh, and 2nd grinds now and 4th just pops out no matter what. Just a heads up :D

Also found this while I was searching through the tech section

ok i didnt drive it but i changed the motor mount and took it out for a test drive. First shift i did and i hear a loud clunk. So i pull back in the driveway and check it out. Turns out that the bracket on the rear motor mount, the one that goes bolted to the motor, the bolts got stripped. Well one got stripped the other broke. So now im wondering what bolt to use for that. I was looking at some bolts that i have laying around and saw that some flywheel bolts look like the same thread and size. so i might use them but im wondering if theyll be strong enough?

Yeah they will fit. I tried to take the easy way out and leave the broken one in there and only use one bolt. But it didnt hold and stripped it too. So now im taking the broken one out and tapping both holes and using thread locker. Last time i try to take the easy way out. Ended up doing twice the work. Hopefully they will hold. Im tired of being under the car. Lol.
