My old 6 bolt had some kinks in it that would take more to fix than its probably worth (not that my 1g isn't the most valuable thing on the planet :thumb: ) but the part of the block where the tranny bolted to the engine (by the clutch slave) was broken off and finding someone to weld cast iron WITH threading posed more problems for me. Therefore i found a nice longblock jdm 6 bolt for a flat g with a 5sp tranny (not great but not bad) and invited a friend over with a cherry picker and pulled out the engine in it now. A little side question is should i get a new cv boot or axel (sometimes boots cost more to get done than just a re manufactured cv) anyways.. here are some pics. btw the quality is bad cause its on my phone camera

pulling her out

Its alllooottt easier to work on that car with the head off.. LOL..

Check the cage in the CV joints and make sure its in good condition, and if it is, then just pack the new boot with grease and reassemble the axle.. If it looks bad, then just replace them.. They are strong for stock axles and not that expensive if you only have to replace them every once in a while..

I'd just replace the whole shaft, you know your gonna beat on the car some more and then going to have to replace it anyway. Might as well do it while the cars apart

yeah i found remanufactured ones for 35 and supposedly those hold up pretty well. ebay can be your best friend and your worst enemy

its the drivers side that needs replacing and this is the one i found.
Nice paint job.
thanks. its a metallic green. gorgeous color and you can still see the flakes. im swapping the a/c and power steering over today. and thats just a matter of taking off the alternator belt and loosening the tensioner and a few bolts. Also i am taking off the tubular manifold on the jdm engine and putting on my fresh evo 3 mani. another question with the evo 3 is that i am going to use the stock 14b with the evo 3 mani. would i have to port out the 14b before i put it on? i know it should bolt on but the evo 3 mani i understand has a larger 7 cm opening. wouldn't there be buildup along the smaller opening?
