I just got my GM MAFT Gen 2 installed, and I was told I am supposed to have all settings zero'd out. The problem is, I can smell and see my car running rich (fumes, black smoke at idle) It also hesitates under boost when zero'd out. The weird thing is, when I pull base fuel around -15 with the MAFT, the car seems to run MUCH smoother, and goes smoothly to redline.
My logger is currently broken, so I've been watching the EGT temps. Risky, I know, but hear me out. The temps never go higher than 1350, even at the top of 3rd and 4th. I am told the norm is around 1500 at the top of 3rd, but I have my probe mounted on the o2 housing rather than the manifold, so I drop the temp to compensate.
Oh, and yes, I've done a boost leak test, it holds 15 psi for about 20-30 seconds, then bleeds off to zero in about a minute and a half.
So my question is this: Is it unheard of to run rich with 450's; and should I still leave the MAFT zero'd out until I get bigger injectors, even if its running rich?
Thanks.
