As a dsmer im a junk yard king always looking for cheap (good) parts. So I have been doing alot of research on line about what cars have what parts that are close to mine. Im building a 4g64 2.4L 7 bolt with a 4g63 6-bolt head for my spyder. But threw reading i have found out that the mitsu Mighty max truck also has a 4g64, that can be swaped with a 4g63t and its rwd. ( so any one ambitious and rich enough to go rwd theres a tranny for ya) but like wise that 4g64 from the mighty max fits in the fwd eclipse.. ne way I also found out that the might max came with 4D56T I-4 turbo deisel.. So if the 4g64 fits.. why not the 4D56T........ just think... bio diesel dsm, or run it on vegtable oil... LOL
 
N/T spyders came with a sohc 4g64, not a 420a.

I was getting more towards the point that you would have to make similar changes to fit any engine into a car, for which the car was not originally designed. Meaning that swapping the turbo diesel into a sohc 4g64 would be (in the most basic sense) like putting a 4g63 into a 420a car. Stuff wouldn't just line right up, if it fit at all.

The swap probably could be done, but would it really be worth it?

Wrong... The 4D56T is very close to the 4g64 which is very close to the 4g63T. All 3 mitsu motors..... the 420a is a chrysler motor and is backwards from its mitsu counter parts. the 4g63t is a direct swap with a mighty max 4g64. I Bet the 4D56T would bolt right in to an eclipse, and probluly would mate right up to the trans. The biggest prob i can think of is your wire harnes/electrical/tuning..... and... the price of a 4D56T if you can find one

actually gearing would me your biggest hurdle. typica diesels have an operating range from 500~3000rpm...our engines are 750~7500. granted smaller diesles rev high but the only one i know of for sure is a vw and its redline is 5000. so youd run out of gear in a hurry if you start making power. however some gears out a gallant GSX may help...i'm not sure. Talk to morphius..he knows all.

I have been on this subject for a while now, (I have stock in biodiesel) and I am trying myself to figure out a way to do a turbo diesel with a higher RPM range.
