DSM link users, tusb 3410 boot device.

I have been using my dsmlink problem free for just under a year now, I recently did an egr block off plate (which has been giving me tons of problems, will ask this question later) but yesterday I used it just fine, drove to a friends house so he could look at why my car was running bad, went to plug his lap top onto my car to check somethings out, now when I plug in my keyspan adapter it says I need to download tusb 3410 boot device software, so I tried to download it and it says there is no download for it. Also, when i try to go online in dsmlink im getting the IO command timed out, tried checking a com port and its not even there, i only have the other devices and under that its the tusb 3410.

Did your friends laptop have the Keyspan drivers on it for the adapter?

It sounds like you're having a conflict with the input/output settings between the com ports and the usb. Does the laptop have any auxiliary cards plugged in? Did you use any devices that convert a usb port into a 9-pin or 15-pin?

Try going to your device manager in the control panel and see if there are any exclamations or question marks over devices. Hit update drivers if there are any.

No auxilary cards plugged in, I went into the device manager and its not even showing what com port it is on. Everytime I plug in my keyspan it just brings up that I need to down load the 3410, when I try to it says there is no software for it to download online.

Alright, if it says there is no software to download, that just means that there are no drivers saved on the Microsoft website, not that the drivers don't exist. You will need to do a search for a driver packet that matches what you need. Try just typing in the device and driver number in google to see if there are any worthwhile results. The other option is to browse through several areas of the manufacturer to see if they have something that will work.

EDIT: One other thing, did you try plugging it into the other port. Sometimes on these conversion devices it will not recognize the same device plugged into different usb ports!
