big rapids,
Michigan
Vehicle background: 95 talon tsi awd, with a 97+cas, just rebuilt from a timing belt incident. Went to start and has no start but it turned over.
I have 2 problems
1. The easiest is my problem with the crank sensor. When testing it I get 12.xx Volts with positive and ground. A reading of 5v from ground to signal. When the car is being turned over I still get a constant 5v. Is the sensor bad or am I just probing it wrong?
2. The fuel pump did not run when I turn the key to run position, when I crank the motor I still had no fuel pressure. So I checked the fuel pump by hardwiring it. Yep the fuel pump works should have put the fuel rail back together before I did that one. Yes there is gas in the tank. For now the fuel pump is currently directly wired to the battery with a switch built in so I have fuel pressure running through the rail. I reconnected the harness at the fuel tank but like I said 2 of the connections are hardwired(positive ignition? And negative I assume, coming from the battery positive and negative)
What else does the relay control?
Do I need that relay if I have the fuel pump bypassed?
What else might be affected if my fuel pump was inoperable?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Im just trying to bring a DSM back from the dead.
Thanks
