running problems. car runs like crap

if my car sits for a day it takes forever to start. I replaced the pump fuel controle relay and filter. all injectors firing and ignition is to. when the car does start it runs bad. way to much fuel is being dumped into the engine and is puffing out black smoke. how can you tell if your computer is bad or is there something else wrong.

give more details, does it smoke ALL the time or just warm up. how bad is the ride, really jerky does it bog?

smoke most all the time but very noticeable when you get on it. it bogs down horribly right now. it wasn't doing this a month ago. the fuel pressure
is at 40 and climbing.

try applying vacuum to the fuel regulator and see if it holds.. or just disconnect the line going to it. Check all your grounds.

Sounds like a weak yellow spark. Have you cheked your ignition system - pulled plugs, cheked the spark, power resistor, et al. ?

I did pull the vacuum line from the fpr and the pressure went up like it should but it was still to high. I checked the injectors with a noid light and checked to see if all the cylinders were firing. all injectors and plugs were working. the computer isn't reading the translator but it has all the right voltage were it is needed.

Possible EGR valve opening when it is not supposed to. Pull the vacuum line off of it and with the handle of a hammer tap the top of it while the car is running, DO NOT slam it just a resonable tap is enough. If that is the problem, the car should get a smooth idle right after you do that... Good luck
