Shifter problem help!!!

OK so my shifter has been very hard to put in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. But it only does this off and on, kinda of weird. Anyways yesterday I was shifting into 2nd gear and the shift knob when all the way back. I took off everything after I drifted into the nearest parking alot and I found that this bolt that the cables go through was chipped and the one of the rubber tubes over the cables doesnt fit back in it so the car cannot shift at all. I dont know the name of the part and the people at autozone dont know what it is called and I checked two manuals and it never mentioned what it is called. I tried to keep pushing the tube back in the cracked bolt to get it to shift, but I doesnt even go in to the gear.

I would go hit up a junk yard.. you could probably find one dirt cheap.. You should post a pic so we can see it.. No digi cam? Try and take it with your phone and email it to yourself like a picture message..

Yeah.. just go to the junk yard and get everything that is broken or worn.. it will probably cost you less than 20 bucks altogether.. Just take out anything questionable, and take it with you when you go to the junk yard..

haha.. Excellent.. I love trips to the junkyard.. I had an 89 z28 when I was 16, and I went to pick and pull.. I came back with an IROC steering wheel, all seats from the IROC, 90 IROC door handles, and new plastic trim for the inside.. $150.. saaaweet...

good luck.. And like I said, ANYTHING that is questionable, replace it.. 1 trip is fun, but going back bites..
