I own a 91 Talon TSi FWD with 6 bolt engine and 5 speed manual tranny. Recently we fully rebuilt the engine with performance internals and a lot of mods we install on my engine (2g pistons, hks cams, 16G, walbro 255, rewire kit, eibach springs, KYB struts, Adjustable FPR, prothane motor mounts, balance shaft removed, 3" Downpipe with cutout, FMIC, Stage 3 clutch, 850cc FIC, etc) and a couple of electronics logging and tuning devices (wideband, dsmlink, gauges, etc).

The car never get to the track because just before we get there a car smashes against me and almost destroyed my seriously (but never tested on the track) modified Talon.

luckyly my rebuilt engine and all of my mods still in excellent conditions after the accident. Not even a small screw was damaged (of my engine and tranny, of course).

The insurance company will give me a couple of bucks plus the remains of my crashed car. My idea is take out my engine, all of my mods and my tranny (everything is in excellent conditions and I expend a lot of money on it, so i wont lost it!!!) and search for a good DSM car on my area. My questions are:

1.- will all of my mods fit on any 90-94 dsm??? or only on turbo models?? or only on FWD 1g DSM?? or what???

2.- What should i look for???

3.- Will i be able to fit my manual tranny on an automatic dsm??? I mean, if I find a good 1G Automatic DSM, will I be able to take out the stock engine and tranny of the automatic car and swap in my modified engine and manual tranny??

4.- Will my engine fit on a AWD dsm??? I know the FWD tranny is different than the AWD tranny, but will i be able to use my engine with the AWD Tranny?? or what can i do??

5.- As far as i know the differences between the AWD and the FWD is the tranny, clutch, downpipe... but what else it's going to be different??? or should I definitively look for a car exactly as mine (fwd, turbo, 5 speed manual tranny, 1g, etc)??

6.- What about the suspension of my car?? will my struts and eibach prokit springs fit on any DSM??

Any advices and comments will be very appreciated... please let me know everything you can on this issue.

Thanks in advance

1. Your engine will work for any 90-99 TURBO DSM. Either fwd or awd, doesn't matter.

2. I would look for an AWD DSM to put that engine into, you might as well do this now that the engine will be out of the car anyways.

3. I really don't understand this one, maybe someone else can answer this question. If you are asking if you can use your set-up on an auto car....then the answer is yes but with lots of work.

4. Yes your ENGINE will work in an AWD car.

5. It depends on what you are trying to do, if this is a daily driver and you need it up and running pretty fast....then just look for a 1g fwd like yours. If it was me I would look for an AWD :thumb:

Let me know if you have any other questions Sergio.

Muchas Gracias por el Saludo. Yo estoy en Monterrey Mexico!!!
What changes will i need to do in order to fit my engine on an AWD??? Will i be able to still use my tranny on the AWD or will I need to use the tranny of the AWD car???

I guess swaping my engine into a 2G dsm will be very difficult and will take me alot of time since the ECU of both generations are different. If I do that i wont be able to use my 1G Dsmlink... am i right??

You will need an awd tranny w/transfercase. You will NOT be able to use your fwd tranny on an awd car.

Actually, I've done about 3 6 bolt swaps (1g engines to a 2g car) and it is very easy to do :thumb:

Yes you will need a 2g dsmlink, but I'm sure ALOT of people would be interested in buying that 1g dsmlink.

Si tienes otras preguntas me avisas Sergio.
