CV Axle Stuck.Any Other Suggestions Besides FAQ?

I Have 95 GSX, replaceing both fron cv axles.the driver side came out east and went in east after getting joint off,got to the passenger pulled cv axle out and the join back half remained in.tried using chizzles,prybars,screw drivers,hammers,and lots of injenuity...LOL if thats how u spell it.any ways any other ideas on how to get this out with the tranny in would be great.please and ty.

+1 to the post above. Sometimes you have to have more than one person at a time to help you. One prybar on each side of the cv joint. One person on each of the prybars to pry, and one person to wiggle the joint. Sometimes you have to rotate it wile you are pyrying because the clip likes to be a a pain in the butt and you have to get it at the perfect spot before it decides to pop out. Good luck!
 
thanks.time to put on Hard Hats,Glasses,Gloves,And what ever may help incase we all clash to gether due to the cv axle sliping out or pry bar busting off the end LOL.
 
haha..i had to take mine out last year. i couldn't get it out to save my life but then my tech teacher came over and in a matter of a minute he had it out. like said before, 2 pry bars and so hard pushing. good luck
 
i was doin mine in my driveway, and i had to have 2 long ass screw drivers one it, and i was holding my weight on them with my feet and my hand on the fender, i am not light either LOL, i was in the air and pop their it goes trans fluid all over me haha good luck
 
I agree with the pry bar from above. I myself had no problem with it when I did my passenger side 3 weeks ago. But once you do get it out, to make it easier on yourself for next time, take the little snap ring off the end of the axle shaft that goes into the trans. It is not needed. Mitsu (and most other manufacturers) only put them on to hold the axle in during assembly. You can get along just fine without it. I know I am. :p Also while you have the bar behind it, tap on the bar with a small mallet or sledge hammer.
 
take the driver side off and bang out the pass side though the middle.

or if you want to pry it, its not so much about prying as it is popping it out. Use something like a tie rod end seperator, something real solid, and give it a quick shot with a hammer. You don't need tons of force, just a quick snap.
 
To remove right side axle use a Long flat tip screwdriver insert between axle and transmission housing and Twist the screwdriver as if you were removing a screw. Guarnteed to work first time. No pry bars are necessary
 
Forget the prybar. Period, they just lead to busted nuckles...


Ball joint fork, put it between the axle and transmission and tap that puppy out.
