Ok, so i have been looking at threads untill my eyes are soar, and PMing vendors all across the land, but i wanted to throw out a thread to get more of a general consensus
from my DSM friends

I have a 95 GS-T and I am just starting to get in to it for mods. The clutch has been feeling weak for a while now, and with the power levels I am hoping to reach by the end of the summer, I don't think an OEM replacemet is going to cut it. I want something that is going to be snappy, but not kill the car as a daily driver. I am sitting pretty at 220whp, as of the dyno from last summer, and I am hoping to reach just above 300. I don't do a whole ton of Drag, a pass or 2 at the local track every once in a while, but I am pretty heavy into the Auto-X scene.

I have been looking at ACT and Competition for the clucth, and all but decided on the ACT Streetlite Flywheel. From what I have been reading is that the ACT2100 or 2600 is the way to go, but I am not sure what the translates into on ACT actual site, they seem to use a completely different catagorizing system.

Thanks all
Tony

the ACT 2100 will do fine for what your doing. i had an old set up making 330 awhp and took it to the track every weekend. never any issues with it at all. pedal pressure is just a tad higher and wont put any strain on your motor. great clutch in my opinion. good luck with the build:thumb:

if your going for the minimum pedal effort while still wanting good performance the 2100 is great. i have that in my awd tsi and it feels/hold great at about the same power level. i've driven a dsm w/ the 2600 and while it engages good, its noticeably more of an effort than with the 2100. i also just bought a competition clutch (6puck, stg4), haven't used it yet but the quality looks good, and i believe they are cheaper than ACT. I agree with you on the ACT flywheel, seems like a happy median, fidanza's at under 9lbs sound too light but i haven't tried one on a dsm. my friend's nissan had one with a 2100 and i HATED it, but thats a smaller car to begin with.

any opinions on what disc to run?

The Solid Street Disk(MB1-HDSS) or the 6-Puck Sprung Disk(MB1-HDG6)

Thanks for all your help

I'd suggest getting a 2100 with a street disc since you said it's a daily driver. I have a 2100 with street disc and it's very nice (minus the fact that it's going). It's able to be slipped but does grab when I want it to.

But I'd also look into come other clutch companies as people on here have had some problems with ACT lately. Not saying they're a bad company as they've been around for how long and are proven, but there are other good ones that don't have the big brand name associated with it (which also means they're possibly cheaper).
