91 Eclipse steering column makes loud clicking noise and wont turn wheels. works fine when car is in air but with weight it clicks and does nothing. i have never removed anything steering wise before what could be the proble??? PLEASE HELP

First of all turn the wheel and look underneath the dash and see if its turning the shaft through the firewall. If that is not turning you would need a used column from a salvage yard. If it is turning you need someone to turn the wheel while you look in the engine bay and see if the shaft is turning in the splines where it connects to the rack. If all of that is turning all the way down to the rack I would say you have either broken inner or outer tie rod ends orrrrr broken internal rack parts which is rare. good luck
