I installed a used sbr intercooler kit. I installed all the piping and had to make a lil bit to finish it. But know when i hit boost in the higher rpms it sputters. If it was a boost leak it would do it in the lower rpm range. I was thinking, since i was driving the car with some pretty bad boost leaks at one point, i was thinking it could be the spark plugs fouled. Or the bov leaking, i have a greedy type s, im not to sure if they are known to leak, Or another thing is i could be running still very rich, Since i have 650cc injectors, and 255lph fuel pump. With a aeromotive fpr. with an safc, with pretty much no tune. Like it only does it in certain gears, from like 3rd to 4th is when it occurs. I havent checked my plugs yet.. But my 2nd gear pulls very hard. So i am lil puzzled at the moment.. But runs very well besides the sputter.

Why dont you boost leak test it? You cant just assume there isnt one.

Plus, tune your car. That tends to help.

I need a air compressor to do a boost leak test.. I guess i will just have to see what happens with the boost leak test. I took the tb off so that could be it.. But who knows...

you could get a little air tank from like walmart or something maybe one that has the little pump on it? Just trying to help you out cheaply.

When I had a boost leak it only happened at high boost. If you are somehow running too rich that could be the problem too. Do some work and figure it out man it's not gonna fix itself.

yea i understand it wont fix itself, i am just glad i have this intercooler. I was wondering the air compressors they sell at say walmart that some people leave in there cars, if that will provide enough pressure to pressurize my system. If so i may just do that. But i was just wondering if it would work.

You need a "real" air compressor or a portable air tank (that's what I have). Either make up an excuse to justify getting a decent compressor :sneaky: or get an 11 gallon portable tank for $50 and fill it at the local gas station. I use the portable tank all the time to BLT and to keep the tires on all the family vehicles (including bicycles) properly inflated.

Good info! An internet search shows 5 gallon portable tanks starting at $30. Not a bad deal for small budget / small application.

so i am guessin using that portable, air compressor wont work. I dont have much money. I am just trying to figure out whats the best way. I would think it would push enough air to pressurize the system.

As JayRolla said, if you have any friends with an air compressor, ask if you can do the test at their house. Make the tester, take the car and tester and soapy water spray bottle to their house and do the test. If you can find the leaks, you can go back to your house, order the parts and fix the leaks. Then go back and see how it does.

JayRolla: When you get the "new" 1g?
