Head Gasket

hey everybody,
Im replacing the head on my 1992 eagle talon and im not sure what the bolt pattern, and bolt torque to place the head back on with the gasket(new gasket). If anyone has the bolt patt/torq specs please send them this way

And any tips when rebuilding the engine would be great.

The stock head bolts should be torqued to 72 ft/lbs. The bolts should be taken off the head in the order of the following diagram. They should be installed opposite of the diagram.

4 6 9 7 1

2 8 10 5 3

Make sure there is no oil in the holes before you put the studs in also. Oil in those holes could cause a cracked block.

Why in the hell would ARP tell you use their moly lube or 30w???? You can have oil in the bolt holes

And should i pre-tighten all bolts to say, 50 pounds.. then tighten the first one to 72, and so on?
or is this bad

I like to come up to torque in 3 stages, 40%,60%100%. Do each step a couple time as you'll find the center bolts are lose after you finish a pass. 3 passes at 40%,,,3 passes at 60%,,,,, ect.

If you hold the stud sideways and put a couple drops on the threads (just enough to cover the threads not letting any on the bottom of the stud) and then screw it in, the oil will come out of the top of the hole as the stud is screwed in.

Yes those are the holes I am talking about.

I always tighten in at least 3 steps. Doing more steps won't hurt anything. If I was putting in stock head bolts I would do 25,50,75. 3 extra ft/lbs isn't going to hurt anything either.
