Wheel Question- Fitment Related and Need Help

I did the searches, read about the fitment/offset issues, but then I was reading about the width requirement for the BFG tires that I am planning to put on the wheels and basically anything that is 18" needs to have at least 7.5-9" wheels. I am looking at the Falken Torque 5 to put on my 98 GSX which come in the following sizes:

18x7 with 42mm - fitment seems fine but BFG says 7.5-9
18x8 with 35mm - will this offset work?

I was planning on going with the 225/40/18s if I get 18" wheels, but my concern is with the offset and not really wanting to do any fender mods if necessary.

Maybe the solution is just to stick with 17" wheels (17x7 with 40mm), but I'd at least like to have the option.

I'm just not sure about the 7" vs. 8" width requirement for the 18" tires too.

a +35mm offset I think is too much. I'd stick to +38-+40mm to avoid being stuck out too much or sunk in too much.

See, and that was my concern with the 42mm 18x7 as the 7" width really isn't recommended for 225/40/18 tires (7.5-9 recommended)

I always had 18's but decided to go with a 17x8 +35 offset and a 235/40 tire. Looks agressive as a mother and keep the rotational mass down alot. I had 18x7 + 43 offset with 235/40 tire and they were fine. No rubbing ever on either of the setups.

8 w/ the 35mm would work just fine, on stock susp. Your car is lowered but I doubt a 225 will rub. Do some searching their is a lot of info on 18's.

I also forgot to add I'm about 1.3-1.5" lower with a rear camber kit.
