I blew a head gasket. And I'm wondering if I get an OEM gasket will it work with a .020 over bore? What are my options? Thanks.

also, whats the going rate to get the head checked for trueness (s/p?) at a shop? and what will the price be if it needs to be leveled?

Around here it runs 25-30 for checking flatness. Then around 40-50 to shave it off. If it's real bad you have to have it straightened first. thats normally 50. If it got pretty hot you might pay a little extra and have it pressure tested. that's about 50 too.

1)alright, whats the best way to change out the HG? i've seen alot of diff methods, rotate the engine clockwise until the timing marks line up at 3' and 9' o clock, but then should i mark the belt and pulleys alignment?
2)if i leave the intake and exhaust manifolds on do i need any extra gaskets? (recent rebuild)
3)i can use any HG with a 20 over bore?, im thinking a topline stock HG (already have arp studs)
4) if i check the block and head with a straight edge and they look good is it necessary to run to the shop?
5)should i order some ARP molly lube?

I would just redo it all, it's more a PITA to try and hold the rest of the parts in alignment compared to just resetting everything

No

yes..or at least i've never been able to order a "head gasket for an overbore"

That's all a machine shop does is use a very nice straight edge and feeler guages to check for low and high spots
5)should i order some ARP molly lube?

yes

where did you order a HG for an overbore?
i take it a good manual will tell me how to do a good reset of the cam timing belt, i dont plan on touching the crank/balancer belt.

thanks for the help!

I said i've NEVER ordered a different gasket for an over bore. All the one's that have been bored were fitted with Mitus MLS or cometic gaskets

oh woops i missed that, i linked a head gasket for 40$ made by topline up in the thread, is the mistsu mls worth the extra 50$ over the oem (non-felt? linked above) Slowboy Racing, Inc. :: DSM :: Engine :: Gaskets :: Head Gaskets :: Mitsubishi if i get an mls i pretty much have to bring my head to the shop?
i found a cometic HG for 88$ after shipping
i only will be running a 16g turbo and i've heard oem can handle anything a 16g can throw at it
