$200 Talon TSI... maybe?

Well let me say this isn't my first car I'm going to automotive school atm to get my master cert..... this is one of many cars I'v bought (going too) under 500 bux I will probably end up selling it for some profit but its 1998 Black Eagle Talon TSI... more in it for the learning exp and making a quick $800-900


Down low on the car
Spark plug #1 is completely smashed so motor in car is T-t-t-Trash
Transmission had work/was replaced they might have receipts dunno
Clear title on car
interior is mint.. dash is either faded or just dirty but all the powers work except sunroof being off track but its closed atm so who cares
paint is very rough (clear) one dent in the front fender.. all lights are good though

Story along with it
friend of a friends car.. my friend drove it about a month or 2 back saying it would stutter if you just punched it (like a fueling issue or something of the sort) and he said the clutch was fine he was shifting WOT.... anyways went to go look at it today with a friend that has a SRT4 (400 hp one enough about him though) he has a 98 turbo motor at his brothers house with turbo and all he's going to hook me up with they got it for $50 because a friend had bought it to convert a non turbo car to turbo and he wrecked it.. we where going to bring it down to my shop take off the pan check it.. change the belts, plugs and any leaks we can see..


What should I be looking for on the new motor as far as crank walk and such? and what else should I do besides the above stated before it goes in..

also do stock motor parts sell pretty well on here? probably going to tear the old motor down

well if you are going to be getting a new/used engine when you go to rebuild it I would look at the crank and make sure its still with in specs and when putting it back together use some good parts like a cometic HG and ARP bolts and studs, you never know you might just want to keep the thing when done

I wish but cant afford it

just picked up my 2nd f-body (00 Z28) last month... already got full boltons for it and heads and cam parts coming theres not enough money to go around for 2 cars.. I do want to put it back to its stock glory... only way I would keep it or tinker with it if yall could show me a way to pull low 13' high 12's out of it with 1,000$ or something which I bet isn't going to happen I know going fast isnt cheap already just looking to get this thing on the road and make some money and get some more exp under my belt

Well, sort of the same idea i had going with my first dsm purchase. I bought a '91 talon tsi awd and it needed new pistons the car was in good cond. My intentions were to keep it after the rebuild so after the purchase i bought the engine rebuild kit off ebay pulled the motor out took it to a engine shop and they polished the crank and cleaned the block and installed the pistons.. i didnt end up getting a chance to finish the project because winter hit boooo!!! anyways its sitting in a friends yard stilll not finished, I ended up picking up a '95 talon tsi awd because i couldnt wait.. now im stuck with a car not knowing what to do with it. Soo, just dont end up doing what i did because i really dont need that car no more

finish the build on the 91 and put the motor in your 95 then sell the rest of the car and your 2g engine on here to recoup some of the money you have in it. just my .02
