i've searched keydance on here and didnt pull anything that answered my question so then i tryed google and now im just confused. there are lots of difrent answers out there but mabey some here can be of better help.
when doing the key dance, you are supposed to turn the key back and forth. but from what possition? some say on -off, others say on -acc yet others say acc -off. so witch is right?

THE KEYDANCE
To check the PCM codes, insert the key into the ignition and switch the key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within a 5 sec. time period. Then count the Engine light flashes. The number of flashes represents the trouble code. There is a slight pause between the flashes representing the first and second digits of the code. Longer pauses separate indivdual trouble codes. All codes will end with 55 which signifies End of Codes / No detected failure.

12. direct power input to the PCM has been disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles
31. EVAP solenoid circuit.
im not saure what these mean. can any one break these down for me?

PCM power cut would possibly be a power wire disconnected to the PCM or battery unhooked.
31 is an emissions code, you remove or unhook any emissions solenoids?
 
nope. im not even sure what an emmision solenoid is. what should i check to fix it?

Check around your evap can. When my Elantra that i had threw the code, i had to replace the close canister valve (easy fix) to fix the code. Look to see if there are any loose, cracked, or broken hoses running to it, and also check to see if the valve is working properly.

You can check check engine lights by turning the key on and then off three times ending with it on and the check engine light will flash a set amount of times. It will do the first number fast, then pause and continue with the last number..
 
Its sending you the codes(flashes) to tell you whats wrong/errors with it. Count the flashes and you can look up the codes online..
 
2g Eclipses are OBD-II. Although the government mandate wasn't until 1996, Mitsubishi implemented the OBD-II standard in all 2g cars. My guess is that the code is 12 - 55.

12 is the fault code indicating a power failure to the ECU and 55 signals the end of codes. So it looks like you are just being notified that the PCM lost power. Did you disconnect the battery while working on something before you got the codes?
 
So can anyone help me? I tried the keydance several times and I can't get the CEL to flash some codes.

I tried it fast, slow, from acc to on and back to acc, from lock to on and back to lock... I don't have any idea how to get a code.

My CEL is glows all the time, so there has to be a code. (I guess it's the EGR-Valve, but I'm not sure)
