Hey guys, I recently moved to Dubai, UAE in January, and I left my beloved TSi behind.
Now the time has come where I will be shipping my DSM to Dubai, in early May.

A little about my car...

1994 Eagle Talon TSi AWD Turbo:
- Electric Blue
- 5 Speed Manual Transmission
- 70,900 Original Miles
- Factory Limited Slip Differential

Engine:
- 14b Turbo
- K&N Cold Air Intake
- Manual Boost Controller
- MSD Wires
- NGK Plugs
- 160 Degree Thermostat
- 3" Downpipe
- 3" Exhaust From The Down Pipe
- SS Muffler

Interior:
- A-Pillar Mounted Autometer Boost Gauge
- Custom iPod Connection Direct To Stereo (Best Mod Ever!)

Drivetrain:
- ACT 2100lb Clutch
- ACT Aluminium Flywheel
- Short Throw Shifter
- Ball Bearing Shifter Cables

Suspension/Brakes:
- KYB Adjustable Struts
- Eibach Springs
- Slotted Rotors, Front and Rear
- Goodrich Stainles Steel Brake Lines

Now the bad....

The transmission blew out in September, and it has been sitting in my garage back home since then...I ran it once a week until December, than I moved to Dubai.
Instead of getting just a new tranny, I have decided to get a complete JDM engine/transmission swap.
I plan on a red-top Cyclone, any input???

I also plan on running around 20 PSI, any input on how I can do that SAFELY, without damaging the engine/tranny, again.
I will also be putting in 3G lifters, any advice on that?

Also, I will be using it primarilly as a car just to get around the city, but atleast once a month, I plan on taking it to the Dubai AutoDrome (the race track), and playing around with Ferraris, Lambos, Skylines, etc....
Any tips on other mods for the track???

Money is NOT an issue, I plan on building it up right the first time, and hopefully not breaking anything major on the track.

Also, any special preperations needed for the car to cope with 125+degree /100% humidity weather?

Any/All input is GREATLY appreciated, as I need to start putting everything together, before I get back home on April 21st. I hope to have the car running by then, so I can drive it around Colorado for two weeks, then ship it to Dubai, in good working order.

BTW, anyone know of any 1G DSMs in the Middle East???
As far as I know, this will be the only 1G Talon in the region (I have seen a couple 2G Eclipses).

Thanks a lot everyone.

Cool deal!!! I have a 93 twin as you can see in my signature.

Keep us informed on how it goes when you get over there.

Cooling is going to be your biggest problem. Make sure you’re cooling system is in perfect working order before you ship it, I would even try to find a heavy duty radiator for it. Also make sure all the fan shrouds are in place maybe some oversize fans would be good.

I lived there for five years in the 80's and had a 3.0CS BMW and the air conditioner was not strong enough to keep up if more than one person was in the car. Than it sprang a radiator leak one day and fried the engine (complete seize) before my wife could get it home.

Also unusal cars are hard to get parts for and every "jingley mechanic" claims to be an expert and says "no problem". Example, I took the Bmmer to a very large auto shop run by Brits. The owner told his Indian mechanics to pull off the bottom end and see what the damage was than went on a 2day holiday. He came back to find my engine in a million peices, down to the dual carbs, every screw and float bowl part removed. When the put it back together they over tightened all the screws and caused masive air leaks in the bodys of both carbs. Had to send a frend to a UK junk yard to find a used set of carbs.

So your biggest problems will be heat and stupidity.

Good luck,

BK85

yeah, im really worried about the other drivers...

looks like im only gonna drive it at 3am when noone else is on the road, and at the track!

cool bimmer, 3.0CS is one of my favs...
i had a 97 740, but gave it to my sis for her wedding before i left...
i love bimmers!

thanks for the tips, i figured i was gonna upgrade my radiator anyways.

any thoughts on the cyclone swap???
good idea or bad idea???

nice car

if i were you i would go for the evo III :p the gearbox is a close ratio gb compared to the red top cyclone , in asia we call the red top cyclone from the vr4 a vr4 200 if it comes with a td04, vr4 220 if it comes with a td05 14b , and a vr4rs which comes with a td05 16g (eci multi)
evo III rear axel also has a factory fitted lsd by standard , im nt sure if it will fit the 1g as i am a evo user

I sold it to a local doctor who wanted to restore it, so it's probably still there. It was one only two 3.0 CS,s in the country. Another American up in Sharjah had a blue one and mine in Duabai was red with black interior. The original 3 liter 6cyl engine, all apart is probably still in the warehouse wrapped in plastic.

Don't know much about the Cyclone intake. I know I have seen some threads on it.

awesome.

was it the CSi?
thats the one with the big fins on the back, i think.

i love that car so much.

The evoIII grearing is great for autocross, but you can always have your tranny rebuilt with gears to match the evo III, I know of a great shop if you are interested. A cyclone intake would be great for what you want to do it helps with low rpm's. Small longer runners for low rpm, and as the rpms raise the larger shorter runners open up. It kinda feels like a V tech in a scence. And I am not sure about the VR4 engine in Asia but is the US the 4g63t was only used for 90 or 91-92 then went to the 6 cyl. not sure if it was a 6 or 7 bolt! Im thinking 6bolt since the 7 didn't come out till half way through 92. Definately something to look into. Have fun!!

Nope, It looked very much like the 630 CSI, but with dual carbs, no fuel injection. It was the year before they introduced the 630's. I may still have a photo of it somewhere. If I have it I will stick it up here.

very interested in the shop youre talking about!
is the evo lll engine hard to make it work into my talon???

sorry, im a 4g63 n00b.

Im not talking about putting a EvoIII engine and tranny in a 1g or 2g which I am sure it can and has been done, I am talking about getting your tranny rebuilt to almost match a EVOIII tranny's gearing. Which would be good for auto cross since the gears are closer. I'll pm you the web site you can check it out your self.

Once you get the car there you need to tune it! Bring a logger with you and drive around making sure you aren't knocking. 125* temps are going to make your AIT's ridiculously high and I have a feeling you're going to knock like a mother.
