Peterborough,
Well I got a project talon its a 1g 6bolt basically for free. What I was told that happened to the car was the guy was driving it down the highways and basically the car just died really fast, he pulled over and there was alot of oil everywhere, and what we have figured as to why it stalled out was that since the oil leaked out the exhaust cam didn't get enough oil and ceased and sort of shreaded the timing belt, but we didn't realize the exhaust cam bearings where messed up at the time I was just replacing the timing belt then going from there and thats when I realized the cam was basically ceased up and I took of one of the caps and it was all scored up.
Now is it worth it to try and repair it by taking it to a machine shop or should I just buy a new head? Also what I am looking to find out is the difference between the Turbo and the non turbo head, because I can get a hold of a few non turbo head at a good price.
Also for the oil leak that occurred it seems that it is on the same side as the timing belt ( since there is alot of oil all over on that side) What would be some peoples guesses as to what it could be, I was just going lube up the bearings on the exhaust cam then, put new oil in her and give it a quick run to see where the oil is coming from ( when I redid the timing on it and turned it over by hand it didn't seem to have any binding problems and I also checked the rod a crank bearings due to the oil leak and they all seem great.
So all in all, are the n/a and turbo heard compatible and what would be a good next step with the oil issue.
