Stupid question on wheels... (has to do with offset) sorry...

So i've been eyeing these wheels for some time now, and can't figure out if they'll work on my car or not. I think what it is is that I've come to the conclusion that they probably won't work, but I really want them, so I keep reading stuff hoping to find a solution...

F: 17x8.0, +45 offset
R: 17x7.5, +48 offset
I believe they're running on 225/45's atm.

Anyone think they'd possibly fit on a galant after i swap to 5-lug?
I was told the Acura TL rims fit, which are 17x8 +45, so i figure the fronts would work, but I'm not so sure about the rears...

Any insight into this matter is greatly appreciated!

Not positive on GVR4's, but an 8in wheel fits on 1 and 2g's. I have Evo wheels on mine at the moment and they are 8in and I also run a 225/45 with no rubbing at all. Now the front wheels do stick out a little, but nothing bad.

Not trying to steal the thread but would 215/45/17 fit on a 8" wheel? if so how weird woult it look, if it even looks weird?

Should just have a slight stretched look, but I'd suggest a 225 at least.

any idea if the high offset would rub onto anything in a 1g or 2g? i think the evos are only +38?

anyone? i'm still iffy on how all the wheel dimensions play out, but i guess my main concern is that they'll rub against something...

A quick search on Tirerack.com found...
For a 91 Galant VR-4:

17x7.5

Offset: 40mm
Bolt Pattern: 4-114
Rec. Tire Size:205/45-17
(I don't understand why they use such a thin tire)

I don't know if you'd get much out of a 5-lug swap as far as being able to go with the larger offset. You might need spacers.

Also, wouldn't you want the wider rims on the back?

No. Like it was stated above, the tires would just look stretched to the sides but as long as you have good allignment, the wear should be even.

I'd more have a problem with the tires being a different size... Sorry for the stupidy but aren't all VR-4's AWD? And that whole different size tires cause you to burn up your VC in the Transmission, would turn me off from those tires. Plus call me old school but if its for DD then the big tires should be in the back.

the width of the rims are different sizes but the tires are the same 225s.
i read somewhere that having the wider rim in the front would help with the cars understeering

Whoa! I didn't even notice the front and rear. I figured those were just two set's of sizes he was looking at. Don't run different size wheels/tires on an awd.
