Wiring 2 Amps

ok i have 2 alpine amps, a 400wt 4 channel and an 800 mono. i know a little bit of electrial stuff but not lots. i'm wiring them up but i don't know if i split my power wire to each one, am i going to lose power? i would think so. but i'm not sure. can you run 2 amps on one power wire? just so i don't have to run 2 lines. it's not like it's a whole lot more work, just would be nice if i don't have to? anyone know?

Use 2 wires each large enough to handle the current draw. One wire would work but it would have to be twice the size and with that much current will drop more voltage than 2 wires each with lesser current.

You can run one OT gauge wire and split it, or two different wires smaller. I would suggest like 4 gauge for the 800 and 6 for the other...make sure you fuse them both under the hood. Then you can just run RCA's from one amp to the other and blam there ready to be wired to the speakers/subs. I would also highly sugest using a gromet when going through the firewall unless your going through the steering collum boot then you don't really have to worry about it. Good Luck

Also you can use the same amp turn on wire if you want that will save you a little bit...

I am a MECP certified installer. you do NOT need to run 2 wires that is what distrubition blocks are made for. Run one good size power wire to the back with those amps one being a class d mon then 4 gauge will be fine. ) gauge would be better if you ever plan on upgrading. terminate the wire in the back with a dist. block and frun power wires to each amp from there. Make sure you fuse the wire in the front battery connection thats a must. If the amps dont have fuses in them then get a dist block that has fuses in it that way yuo can fuse the amplifiers.(I think those amps have fuses on them though) any other questions post or PM me.

I have 2 amps in my Evo and I had it with two wires and then changed over to a distribution block. I noticed more stable power and alot cleaner looking.
