Portage La Prairie,
I recently purchased a 97 Eclipse GS-T, last week my motor blew spectacularly. I purchased a used motor from a local supply shop and was delivered a GVR4 6 bolt motor (yes, the one with the cyclone manifold) we are almost finished swapping the motor in the mechanic i have working on it for me would like to know if the oil cooler line fittings in the oil filter mount can be plugged or is it going to somehow adversely affect oil flow and pressure, in which case should we run some sort of bypass loop ? Any help would be appreciated. I haven't seen anything about not using a cooler here anywhere it seems like everyone is trying to figure out how to get one to work. so hopefully someone can let me know. Thanks.

With mine i just ran a oil cooler infront of the radiator. Im not to sure but i think you can block them of. I have read people have done it but its much better using them.

well this would just be temporarily to get it on the road its my daily driver so i need it back in service and with the money i have already had to put out its getting to costly to put one in right now

Just an update, motor is in and everything is bolted up. The last update i had was that there was no spark and no fuel, I haven't been able to get ahold of the mechanic since that. the only thing i can think of to cause that issue is if the CAS sensor mod is not connected right. or possibly the GVR4 CAS is no good. is there anything else i should look for? the mechanic said that the whole harness looks to have been messed with before, i think i am the 3rd owner of this car and i got it from a local dealership who didn't even know what he had so i am largely ignorant of what took place before i got ahold of it.

I would also check fuses they are the esiest to replace. I would also chack your coil pack and transiter plug. Most likly the cas is your problem. Let me your progress.

yeah he is having another go at it tonight hopefully i'll have it on the road again after today

You can run it without the external oil cooler without problems but keep in mind all 4g63's equipped cars came with some sort of oil cooler from the factory for a reason. The threading on the cooler lines is 16mm x 1.5
