Hi i recently bought a 95 talon TSI AWD... after inspecting the car i noticed sum eyebrow raising things, i have taken pictures, i assume this all needs fixed, but if any of it is a red flag, or if ne one knows where, or why these things are like this, please help. The group of wires under the radiator has 4-6 wires cut...... The lower O2 sensor is cut, a wire coming from the head is cut entirely, a random mounting bracket with a tun of wires is just laying near the Intake Mani, yellow wire near the mani is cut, there is more but i think i will stop here, for now

Solder or crimp clamp the cut wires back together. The picture of the bracket with a black box on it is you power transistor it mounts on the driver side of the manifold on the block. Are any of the power transistor wires cut?

None of the wires from the power trans are cut, its just loosing laying around. i will rewiring the wires that i can match up, the ones under the radiator are obviously gunna be easy to distinguish there path, but the wires coming from the head, i have no idea where they go, the yellow wiring im holding in the above picture, no idea where it goes, ive decided the plug looking thing, goes to the missing accessory light, ironically noticeable in the same picture. If im wrong on this??? someone let me know. If i can figure this stuff out i have more pictures of things that seem odd to me, im hoping i can get some good help, i am new to the dsm scene but sence my first AWD Redline launch i am in love with my new car.

The power transistor you're holding in your hand usually gets bolted down in the curve of the intake manifold, what would be below where it says "ECI Mult.." and behind the injectors.

Your emissions hoses are all missing from your throttle body, or did you remove them? (The pointy tubes point towards/Just left of "ECI"

Fram is a crummy oil filter. use a Pure One.

the black and red wires im holding in the first picture, i am lost to where they go or what they are for........

can you tell where they come from/what they join into, are they from the wiring harness?

Have you checked to see if both fans run? Though those don't look like the correct color wires from what I recall, but mine were not stock either.. Check your lights as well, blinkers, side markers, blinkers, main and hi-beams.

Does your cel come on when you start the car? is your ecu wiring okay? yeeesh....that ain't pretty...reminds me of when I first got my car!!!

You also have the cam angle snesor on the pasanger side. From what I understood of the 95's(correct me if I'm wrong though), the sensor was not at that location, but on the opposite side, behind the cam gear hidden from view. This isn't really an issue, just something to note.

First, there is only one fan on my radiator, which got me to thinking and looking, there is misc. plugs in the missing fan area, the cut wires could of possibly been from a missing fan??? My horn does not work, my CEL is allways on, and the ABS light is allways on, and the breaks definately lock up....... i know these cars are rumored to be trouble, but i consider myself car knowledgable and i hope to fix the small things that are wrong witrh my car. I only paid 2300 for my first awd turbo. Ill check closer for where wires are heading/coming from. Someone mentioned my hoses missing, i need to add a closer picture of this area.... there is JB weld pluggin lines on my intake mani, and random ones going to nothing and sum plugged, is this a credible thing to do o your car??? It seems near rediculess to me, i screwed with a few vacumes on my gf neon and it ran like poo......the car despite missing and cut wires, runs beautifully i might add. Boosts well, pulls hard and smooth and even.

The person who owned that car previously was an idiot and should have never touched anything under the hood.

Get a service manual and plus do a lookup of the wiring diagrams.
one fan was for the ac, the other was for coolant, as long as at least one works(or is on there) the car will live.
Get the cel checked out, see what codes you have. Most likely you'll have them from the o2 sensor and those plugged up holesin the throttle body. I guess this is like a blockoff plate, thats why it still runs? I don't know what your emissions standards are like where you are, but here in cali, that wouldn't last past your first smog check. would you be able to get a complete shot of the engine bay(tight as possible). It would be possible to spot other potential issues...

I live in kansas, so the law is strict, but the enforcement is not, my friend passed his inspection with no cat.... the sheriffs office didnt even check under his car apparently, but i would be very happy to take some pictures of a few other areas i am concerned about, i have high hopes and dreams in this car. the awd is nuts in these cars very fun to drive, my brother own a N/T i drove around alot and we allways joked about the long drown out gears, add a turbo into the equation and those gears are like an adreniline drug, i appreiate all the help from this awesome community of car enthusists, 2marrow comes more pics!

more pictures, general engine shots, my BOV( i didnt drill the holes) the jb weld vacuum hoses. Someone mentiones my cam angle sensor.... i believe that is the 3-4 wires that i have 2 pictures of in my first post, if it is, where shlould i wire it to, is it important???

the first photo I think is the EGR solenoid... one of those emissions ones. it looks like all of your emission lines are missing so they'll all need figured out

the wholes in the bov recirculating tube... i don't know why someone would do that.... i'd imagine it'd still be driveable, just run a little rich.... try a bandaid fix on that since that tube doesn't really hold boost, it just returns the blown off gas to the air filter area. ... tape over it, slide the hose over the tape so you don't blow the tape off, tighten the band clamp on... or fix it right.

get timing belt covers to protect stuff.

what turbo is on there?

Looks like whoever owned that car before you did a number on it, but then again those are the ones I like to fix. The holes in the blow off valve were probably an attempt to get the bov to sound without losing the recirculation.

The first shot in the post #14 looks like it's the fuel pressure solenoid....nothing was hooked up to that??? no vac lines?

I wouldn't push it to extremes with the car, though from what you posted originally it does sound like it's running pretty okay, it has the potential to run a lot better with less of a posibiltiy of blowing up....

That also isn't a stock 2g turbo....possible 14b or 16g....thats why it's pushing so hard. Do you have a boost gauge?
The wastegate is also connected to the bov....This is one way to connect it.....Stock I think it's usually connected to the bcs....though you might not have one of those anymore... :)

Here is an shot of then engine bay with some helpful info.

This shows the solenoids that could be useful for your car.

If that is the cam angle sensor , and the wires are cut, not sure how things would run.
I guess it's possible that it has the earlier cas that was located closer to the cam gear and thats what is hooked up.....though I don't know if thats possible.

:edit: looking at the shot of the fuel pressure solenoid(mentioned in the above posting) it looks like you may have the cas near the cam gear. I'll have to look at my car again to see. I don't recall what all those plugs look like... :) :edit:

hope this info helps.

Just home from work, a few things i do know is that the blowoff vavle is apparently a 1g BOV, i did sum research and understand the computer accounting for X ammount of air but do to atmospheric blowff the computers X figure is off............ the car does not seem to run very rich at all, no bogging between shifts, no stalling, no backfires, no miscolored exhaust fumes, and it actually makes quite a sweet ppsshhvvvvvvvvvttt!!! The turbo..... looks stock, and very small to me, the previous owner stated to me that the car is running lower then stock boost because they bypassed sumthing to reduce the boost, potentially the wastegate being connected to the BOV????? i have no boost controler no boost gauge. the turbo has these numbers on the side.... TD05H... I do ot even have the vacume lines to put my vacumes back to normal, though it wouldnt matter much with them being JB welded shut, i am wondering if driving my car like this is potentially hazardous, wiht the FPS not connected and my emision lines missing, and the cam angel senser.... my interior dash light, the lights on the climate control and my dome light, all do not work, the CEL and ABS light and etc. all work still but there the only thing lit up on my cluster? i am wondering maybe are sum of my miscalanious cut wires might have sumthing to do woth this, i know its not fuses, all are good..... there is spots with nothing there in my engine compartment and i do not have the cover for the fuse box as a guide.... i think ill take a pic of it and my turbo for next post, i greatly appreciate the help of you guys, ## responses are quick accurate and knowledgable, it feels reasuring to have ppl like u top back me up, this is definately a bigger project then i previously thought, but to me its just a bonding experience betweeen me and my car........

I would highly recommend grabbing a chiltons or hanes manual though this link should be helpful for you at the moment. It has wiring and other functional daigrams that were just a wealth of use for trouble shooting.
Folder/File Listing for H:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\My Webs\manualcd.com\gift\dsm\*.*

Try a search for the housing number(td05h) on the site, you should be able to find info on how to ident the turbo, but it's bigger than the stock one :) .You might also want to check the turbo for shaft play(a quick search should explain what to look for) as you don't want it to grenade on you and dump fragments into your engine.

Be careful when changing the exhaust mani, the studs in that area look a bit rusty. It might be a good idea to replace those if you have the chance. I think you can get the replacement kit for $15 online.

PB Blaster.

Sounds like you need a code reader. I have something by a company called pocket logger, works on a palm. it's ok, does the job. Some auto parts stores will read your codes for you for free to though. The codes are in there, even if the lights blown.

Here's a link to a diagram of the stock vacuum line setup. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/pro...esolved-1g-2g-throttle-body-vacuum-lines.html

Here are a couple of shots that might be helpful.
First is a t28(direct bolton replaced a stock 2g t25)
the bcs, top of engine sans the cas(95 model), fuse box cover and transistor location.
