I got a question i have seen two different evo III 16g turbos which do i choose? here are links to different turbos are they the same or is one better? the first one is cheaper and has the better exhaust housing. while the second has old housing and gives a better description to make me trust it but is more money. anyone ever seen both upclose or heard anything about either one?

so is its the same turbo just theres has the better exhaust housing do you have any experience with that turbo?

I do. I have an EVO III with port matched 7cm manifold to turbo and ported exhaust housing. Mine is from somebody that bought it from Forced Performance. Port job was amazing. I dont think it would matter too too much which one you got, an EVO III has the same turbine, one probably flows 1% worse than the other. I've bought a ton of stuff from extremepsi.com. Def. a good company and very helpful. :thumb:

EvoIII's all share the same exhaust housing....it's part of what makes them an "EvoIII 16G."

The photo used on the second link is just a plain Big 16G. I can tell by the exhaust housing and wastegate actuator design.

Rest assured if you buy from either vendor you'll be getting the same part. I'd shop for pricing at this point.

Same design and size, not the same metal.

The EvoIII 16G turbine is made of Inconel in an effort to make the turbo's rotating mass lighter to aid in spool time. It's compressor fins are also thinner for the same reason.

Both the Big 16G and EvoIII 16G are rated at 550cfm....I suppose the only difference is how quickly they spool. To to true racer, this really isn't a big issue because your car never really drops out of the useable power range of a 16G; but on the street, it may be noticeable.

That isn't correct. There's a massive difference in efficiency as well. The B16g's compressor chart is laughable, while the E16g's chart is pretty respectable. Please look them up. :thumb: There are also other small changes that contribute to the efficiency difference, but I can't remember what site had them listed.

Also, don't forget that CFM is a useless figure when talking about turbos.

Yea I would go with extremepsi.com They are a great company. Good customer feed back and willing to help you if you call them. They also ship pretty quick too!

alright extremepsi it is thank god for big tax returns front mount and the 16g go on soon =)
