awd auto tranny binding

ok well im changing a tranny for a friend and im having alittle trouble..

we put the tranny in the car and tryed turning the motor by hand to line up the flex plate and after we bolted the motor to the torque converter it was VERY hard to turn by hand.. the tranny is dry so would that do it? what else could do it?

Good compression..... try taking out the spark plugs

You could have had the torque converter slip out of the trans a notch and when you FORCE it back in you bind the trans and engine together plus a little treat you might have called crushed front pump. If you can't turn the torque converter when the trans is bolted to the engine this is likely your dilemma. You might have to pull the trans and inspect the front pump for damage. I see this every now and then when people let the trans face down a little too far and the torque converter slips out.

Hopefully you didn't damage the pump. Good Luck

ok we fixed it the pump was damaged some how but we put another one in and are good to go..
