Okay, so i've been shopping for a 2g GSX for awhile and found 2 that meet my budget.

One is a 1995 for $2800 that runs/drives but the head needs valve work. It has:
-a boost controller
-3 inch turboback exhaust
-adjustable coilovers.

The other is a 1995 going for $2000 that is not in running condition because it's missing the cylinder head, ecu, and cat back. However it has:

-5sp trans
-with complete interior minus stock radio and rear speakers
-6bolt block with forged eagle rods, forged ross 8.5:1 pistons, arp rod bolts, clevite bearings. 0 miles on the motor since build
-3" apexi downpipe
-evo8 fmic
-b16g turbo
-brand new ACT 2600 6-puck clutch w/brand new fidanze lightened flywheel
-rc 550cc injectors

Which would be a better deal/investment?

You should get the one for $2000, it has more money into the bottom end. Then just take the money you have left after not buying the other on get a head and port and polish it,
and an ecu, and an exhaust, even if its stock. Also th other car might be on its last leg, whoever had it before might have ran the ***** out of it.:laser:

The $2000 deal seems much better but make sure that you can get receipts for all of the engine work or at least make sure you can see the internals. And it depends on your mechanical abilities if you can get it put back together. Either way, you are going to need something to tune with like DSMlink or at least a S-AFC. Good luck!!

offer him 1500 for the one without the head, but thats the one i would buy. I myself have been lookin for one with a blown engine or no engine i got plenty of those layin around.

I agree. The second would be much more of an amazing start hands down.. assuming everything was done right so far w/ nothing else critical overlooked. best of luck!

Go with the second one. The bottom end is more expensive to machine and build than the top end, and like 6 bolt dreams said offer him 1500 and to make it more interesting take cash in hand that always has a better effect than a check.

id go with the bottom one too... just make sure he has receipts and maybe even take the pan off check stuff out, I ran into a problem like that once guy said the block was totally rebuilt and gone over... opened it up and nothing was ever changed.. gotta watch.

Yep, definitely go with the one for $2000 because first of all it has a rebuilt 6bolt swap (I would verify that this is a good rebuild) and second of all the first car needs a head so i wouldnt be surprised if the owner popped a timing belt which can mean piston damage.

Offer the first one 2200 and fix the head, if the timing belt is popped, the change the internals. If there is anything a DSMer should know is our car if never done, there is always something to work on. If you do the tough stuff right off the bat you can be secure with that. Then continue to make the car the way YOU want it. The timing belt on my car slipped when the tensioner pully went loose, and didnt damage the pistons or valve, slim chance.
The second one seems like a good deal but 6 bolt swaps can be a pain, especially if it's not running. There will be a million thing to check before you get the car running. Then another million to get it to work well.
Either way, you're gonna be a luck few with a GSX. GOOD LUCK MAN!!!
