Newmarket,
Sorry guys I am kinda newbie to dsm's. I am rebuilding my transmission to stage 2 sheptrans. Along with that I am changing my slave cylinder, and my master cylinder. I am not sure which one I need, I've looked around on JNZ tuning and other websites. Can someone please direct me? My car is Eagle Talon TSI AWD. 1997.
Thanksa lot guys.

I don't know if they are leaking or not. My clutch is blown out and sticks to the ground, trannsmission is blown as well, grind gears a lot. I am getting stage 2 transshep, changing my slave cylinder, and ya i don't know if the master cylinder is leaking or not, but I do want to replace it completely, better sage then sorry as you said. Can you guys please direct me with a link, where I could purchase one for my car? I looked through JNZ tuning onse, and not sure which I should get, there is like a repair kit, then a cylinder itself, I just don;t know what I need, and if i am even looking at the right parts.
Thanks a lot.

thanks man. I will have a look through local stores, I could probably find it, just wanted to compare prices, and don't know where to look online. If anyone finds something for me online, please post a link, would be so helpful to me. Thanks guys.

Before you spend alot of money;

How do you know all this stuff is blown out? Have you tried adjusting your clutch? Is it holding pressure? Does it feel mushy and have you tried to bleed? If your clutch is toast, you can bet that your transmission will grind and feel all sorts of f'ed up. Address your clutch issue first.

Master cylinder
Part number - MB910562
Price - $81.84

Slave cylinder
Part number - MD749823
Price - $42.96

OEM Mitsubishi Parts

Make sure you're replacing everything else that goes along with a clutch job (tob/retainer clip, fork, fulcrum ball, etc.). And while you're doing it, you should get a SS clutch line if you don't have one already.

Mike is right, identify your problems before you go and spend the $. However, if you are already in the works of doing the shep trans, then replacing the slave and master cylinder, ss lines, fulcrum ball, clutch fork, and tob is much advised. I use extremepsi.com for all of my ordering, for just OEM stuff, I use jnztuning.net. Think of the extra $200 you spend as bullet-proof insurance :D

*edit* beat by snoboarder LOL damn, my fingers are getting slow.

You can buy the rebuild kit for your master cyl for like $18 from autozone. Rebuilding it is super fast and easy a super newb can do it. Theres no point in paying 4x$20 for a new master cyl. They dont go bad its the rubber seals that wear out, which is what the rebuild kit consists of. Hope this helps.

Sorry I didnt answer in detail. But yes I do want to replace everything I can while I m doing the transmission. The clutch has been bled, adjusted already, I did all that stuff, and took it to my buddy/mechanic. All the stuff I said is blown, is really blown, LOL. The only thing I don't know if is in good condition is master cylinder, but the previous owner said he never replaced it, and I have like 170km on the car, so I am just going to go ahead and do it. This is what I am planning to get along with my rebuild from shep, and some of the things that you guys mentioned already. By the way my future goals, which will be either end of this summer, or winter time, is to get also a big evo3 16G turbo, and all the power goodies to go with it, and get my car at around 350-400hp at the motor, would be ideal. I think for daily driving the tranny should hold up no proble, I'll take the car to the track few times, but nothing crazy, mostly just daily driving.

sheptrans stage 2 transmission
slave and master cylinder, ss clutch lines, fulcrum ball, clutch fork, throw out bearing
Short throw shifter, symborski kit, not sure if I could also use some other shifter kits or not on top of that one, or if i need one, if you guys have suggestions please let me know.
Also I was thinking Excedy organic clutch, also getting my flywheel machined along with it.
I am not sure if i am missing anything else, or should change anythign else since i am going to be in there.
By the way the retainer clip, does it come when I buy TOB?

Thanks a lot guys, I was able to find the master cylinder by the way. thanks soo much.
I don't know if i am missing anything from my tranny set up or not, let me know. :)

Sam,

Thanks man. I will look into that option as well, based on how mine looks/works when I get my buddy to have a look at it. I am fresh new to working on cars, and haven't done anything besides change oil, brakes, and tires. So not sure which things I can tackle myself yet or not, but I will look into that rebuild with my buddy. The new one is around 80-90 bucks is not much either.
Thanks for the info. Nice ride by the way.

You could also get an underhood shift kit. I have the Speed-Source brass kit and it's really nice. If you don't want to spend the money, you can make a DIY kit from skateboard bearings. Just do a search and you'll find a good bit of info about it. I liked this kit better because it's a solid piece (not 2 bearing welded together).

Shifter Cable Bushing Kit

And the retainer clip doesn't come with the tob when you buy it.

Retainer clip
MD706185 - $1.11

And I assume you know you'll need fluid :p

Thanks man, thats awesome, I am going to get that kit for sure, and the retainer clip. Yes I know i need fluid, I don't know which one. I mean what I was told, by few local mechanics, that it would be better to get stock normal oil just to the break the tranny in, and then go with redline or some performance oil. Not sure what would be the best way to break in the tranny, and oil to use.

Also I came across this item, while lookin for my clutch and master cylinder on extremepsi.

Slave Cylinder Extension Rod : Mitsubishi Eclipse 90-99 #17386

Should I get this piece as well?
Also the release bearing? Do I need on, I saw ACT makes them, I don't know if that comes with anything I am ordering or totally seperate item, like that retainer clip, and if I should get it.

Thanks a lot guys.

Speaking of which, I know this is OT, but I've been hearing that a lot of the high HP dsmers all now use lightweight shock proof in their oil. Kind of weirds me out because I've always used heavyweight (literally just poured a bottle of heavy weight + 2 bottles of BG synchroshift2). ahh well.

The release bearing is the the throwout bearing. DO NOT use an ACT one, go with OEM. Also, DO NOT use an extension rod, use the rod supplied in the slave cylinder. Screw all of the guys that say an extension rod fixes stuff, it's just a bandaid for a very serious problem.

As with any 'break in', it is general rule of them (take that with a grain of salt) to use organic oils for a breakin and switch to full synethic afterwards.

resurface flywheel to spec (.608" to .613")
new oem tob
new clutch kit
new oem fulcrum ball (pivot ball)
new oem tob clip
new oem clutch fork

if you're anal, new flywheel bolts!

yup, I think that's it :p

Thanks Wiseman. That pretty much sums it up for me. I am going to add this to my favourites, as I'll be making those purchases very soon (2-3) weeks time, so I can always refer back to this. I found all the parts by the way. Thanks a lot guys, that is all the information I need, thank for all your inputs!
