well im getting my head gasket replaced on my DSM with a GOOD one so my engine oil can stop looking like choclate milk LOL.

but i decided my long term plans for the car were to do a 20g combo. So far my car has a boost gauge, an A/F gauge, boost controller and full 3 inch exh with a aftermarket clutch i cant remb the name of that the owner before me put in. heres how i want to do it, keep in mind i know the trans will have to be rebuilt as well.

td06 20G turbo (ebay one for a while)
FMIC
750CC injec
Walboro fuel pump
FPR
DSM chip tune for the fuel mods with the stock boost gauge turned into a knock sensor

what should i consider otherwise? MAF upgrade of any sorts? im looking to run 11s on pump gas, is this possible with a 20g? thanks

20g's were probably the first turbos to go into 11's back in the day :tease: so yes, it can be done. That list looks pretty competant, although I dislike the use of chipped ECU's. They do great for if you NEVER change your setup and you NEVER want to retune your car. It basically gives you a rough tune and I'd recommend an SAFC to fine tune the details if I were to go that route. Then again, by that time, you've just spend $700 and could have bought dsmlink (which you can retune an infinite amount of times, not to mention is a more lethal combo in the hands of a good tuner).

Oh, and skip the ebay turbo. Remember that thread on tuners? this is exactly what I mean. IMO it's ok to skimp on the non-moving parts, but with the turbo being the heart of a power plant, I wouldn't spend the cash on a crappy chinabay turbo.

LOL whats up black spoolin? ebay turbos arent so bad if you buy from a company like godspeed. they actually arent some cheap knock off company as much as the others. they actually sell complete intercooler kits that are direct bolt ons, not cut and fit yourself kinda deal. Im appreciate your input but im surprised after all the ebay sucess stories youd read on this site, youd be so quick to say there all not good on ebay.

Lots of ebay 20g stories on this site, surprisingly i didnt find to many horror stories.

a LOT of companies on ebay now offer warranties on there parts for 90 days. thats more then enough time to find out if your turbo is crap or not. like i said, you got to look at feedback and other things. i bought a TT kit for my cobra off ebay with two precision 67mm turbos both worth of 2100 Combined AND another 2k in suspension parts along with all hotside and cold side piping for 3K....thats 1500HP and brand name parts. no shaft play in the turbos, all oil lines and what not.

been using ebay for my car parts for 4 years now, no bad luck at all but that could change LOL

False. They're the same turbos sold by different vendors. I've rebuilt a HEAP of these over the years and they're all the same. They all use Garrett T3 journal bearings and turbine seal, and Mitsu thrust plate and compressor seal. It's a difficult turbo to buy parts for because of this.

Another thing most guys don't realize is that these turbos are no more a "Evo III 16G" than a 14B is. The exhaust housing is cast to EvoIII dimensions- that's about it.

- The turbine wheel of a true EvoIII is made of Inconel....the knockoff 16G's turbine is not.
- The compressor wheel of a true EvoIII features thinner blades than a plain 16G to make it lighter in an effort to make the turbo spool quicker and achieve a higher overall speed. The eBay knockoff's compressor blades are even thicker than those found on an MHI Big 16G!

You get what you pay for.
