I recently just put in new battery into my car. After I installed it I started it up and it started / ran fine. A day later i try to turn over my car and it has extreme problems like i need a new starter very soon or something. So I am thinking ok whatever, until i mash the gas for some reason my car sputters when I lay into it. But then I put the car in neutral and just give it a few rev's. There is no sputter or anything the whole way throgh the rpm band. So now I thought perhaps the safc could have reset or something but then I read it saves your settings. So anyone have any other suggestions other then that. I was thinking the fuel filter or something of that nature but not sure because it does not do it when I am not moving. But I guess there is not so much load on the motor either. And my starting problem that I am having could not have anything to do with my sputtering could it?

When you say it seems like you need a new starter, do you mean it turned over very slowly? Any way to check charging system voltage? It's possible that your new battery is low on charge, and your alternator sucks, and the system voltage is low which would cause the car to run crappy under load. What happens if you free rev with the high beams on and heater blower on high?

Hey it's a long shot, but it's all I can think of to tie everything together. :thumb:

Well i have yet to replace the starter or alternator so it very well could be either. But when I try to turn it over it is not really sluggish it just does not turn. Could I take off my fuel filter and still run the car fine?>

Yea, you could, but I don't see the benefit. How is a clogged fuel filter keeping the engine from turning over?
