Clutch question.

Ok well my clutch is slipping at 14psi, I turned it down to about 6 and now its fine. If i keep it at about 5 psi, how long can i keep milking this clutch. B/C i am broke right now and this is my DD. Also the previous owner stated that there are only 1500 miles on it.

If the clutch is slipping at 1500 miles, then check out the pedal "free-play" adjustment...

It probably was not re-adjusted when the clutch was changed (if in fact it was).

MBC, Ok i think i will take it down to 4 for a while then.

Weird...MBCs usually don't adjust any lower than WG spring pressure. Which MBC do you have?

That's exactly what i was thinkin???? If your clutch only has 1500 miles on it, and you cant correct it with adjustment chances are it was not broke in properly

Yes, that would be a 3rd possibility.

I looked at the clutch pedal, It seems that it is adjusted as far as it can go back. If i adjust it toward the master cylinder will it make the clutch release all the way?

It's been almost 2 years since I had to work on the clutch and I can't remember off the top of my head which way it goes to "tighten" the clutch.

Maybe someone else can chime in. If not I can look through the CD when I get home tonight.

I have a slipping clutch also, have my boost turned all the down to 9-10 psi. But Clutch slippage could be from many things. Oil could get between it and cause this, improper springs on the pressure plate causing less clamping pressure. Also, like previously stated, improper break-in. I would play with that adjustment if easy to do, and find out if that makes a difference. I like to just stay out of boost till i can also afford to replace my clutch, this also saves me gas. I like to think on the bright side, but I also miss my neck snapping pulls.

more so, I wanna know what turbo/wg set up your running to drop the bost down to 4 psi?????? factory is around 10

Well i did adjust the pedal and it worked!!! I put the boost back up to 16 and ran it like crazy and the clutch held up perfectly. Thanks for the help guys.
