I was just reading the " http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-suspension-brakes/115455-3000-gt-brake-upgrade-review.html" and I have a few questions about it...
1. Will the 3000 GT caliper just bolt right up?
2. And will the 300 GT's stock rotors size fit in my stock 90' Tsi rims?

I would really like to upgrade the stock one piston caliper that came on my 90' AWD and I was just looking at my options. I was thinking either the 3000 GT's or going with the stock two pistion calipers that came on the 92.5' and up AWD. I drive this car on the street some and also take it to the track (drag strip) on weekends. So what setup do you think would work best with my needs?

Thanks

the 92.5 and up cailaper is the same as the 3000gt :tease:If you read that you would know.It also says you will need the cailper/bracket/rotor and it bolts up.

Going to drag race dont make any diference, you dont hardly use brakes there, now road racing is a different story and i wouldnt use the crappy oem for that either. This upgrade is not going to net you night and day results but the fading should be a little better,in other words dont spend big $ on this.Do it is its less than $50,if you cant do it for that then go ahead and get a good aftermarket one.

But the 3000GT VR-4 caliper IS NOT the same, which is much wider, and 4 Piston. The base model 3000GT utilizes the 2 piston "same-as-the-92.5+ calipers."

I would also suggest a higher performance set of pads. As much as that extra and more even clamping pressure will help, pads with more bite will help even more.

But he never said vr4. Get the calipers off any non turbo 3000 gt or diamante and they bolt right up. I just did my 3000gt brake upgrade 3 days ago and everything went extremely smooth. And yes they will fit your stock rims, BARELY, but they fit.:thumb:

he said he read the vfaq and it says in there CLEARLY THE TT BRAKES WONT WORK-I THOUGHT EVERYONE ALREADY KNOW THAT,;)

Doing the swap in the AM :). I got mine off a 92 :dsm:Diamante. Less than $80 and another $40 for brake pads. The stockers were down to near metal on metal so the timing worked out well LOL.

I will report if there are any haing ups but it sure looks like a bolt on.

Mine are off a diamante too tgmx1. Don't worry everything bolts directly on real easilly. They look great too!

i used 92 nt 3000gt sl calipers and rotors every thing fit real easy just had to tweek the dust shroud a little to make room for the big a$$ rotors

Just to report, The conversion is a snap :thumb: If anyone is thinking about doing it GO FOR IT!! over what a stock brake job would have cost it ended up being about $70 more.
