saskatoon,
I have a built 2.3l stroker short block that has the oem main cap bolts and i was wonting to put some arp main studs in there. Can I just put them in and torque them to arp's spec's.

Well i was relly hopeing i wouldent have to do that i just but this short block built and balanced because i have never built a bottom end and now i have to take it all apart and redo it. Would i be alright to just leave it the way it is or should i put the arp's in. Ill probly be in the 450 to 500 hp range.

If you put the arp's in you will need to get it honed. The stock ones should be good for your goal. If you decide to put the arp's in I would also put a main girdle in at the same time. Kiggly racing makes one for it.

My understanding of arp studs is that thay dont have much more clamping force then oem and the differnt torque specs are because thay stretch diffrently. Could i just plasti gauge it with the bolts that are on there then gauge it again with the arp's instaled and if it measures the same or almost the same just use them.
