I was only my way home today from work, when I noticed that my MP3 player just stopped working, its hooked up to the cigarette lighter. The cigarette lighter stopped working. Then I noticed my gauges and all my dashboard lights were starting to dim. Once I came to a stop and started to go again the car was very slughish and once it builds any boost it bucks. Also I noticed when I would turn on my blinker the radio would go all wakey. My radio dosent work now since this has happened. Does anyone know whats causeing this? Any help would be appreciated.

Car mods - UICP, BOV, Aftermarket boost gauge, stock boost.

I was thinking that to. I just replaced maybe 6 monthes ago. But its one from autozone and I'v heard bad things about there alternators. Would this also cause it to have no power and buck once you start to build boost?

eek thats your problem, I got mine rebuilt by a reputable shop and its been running strong for almost a year now. When mine went out I could barely accelerate and get the car home, It kept dying took me what usually takes 10 minutes to get home, 2 1/2 hours.

The last time it was on its way out I dont remember me losing power and it bucking when boost was built.

Definitely the alternator. Dsm alternators are crap, especially rebuilt ones. Expect to replace that sucker between 6 months and a year. I got mine from napa with a 3 year warranty so I just keep taking it back. If you arent running a heat shield that will accelerate the process.

I turned the car on again about an hour ago, and all the problems went away. I just got back from taking it to autozone. Both the alternator and battery check good. So we'll see if this happens again.
