Hey guys, I posted awhile back about my tranny blowing, finally took it to a shop and after 6 months of them messing around, they finally fixed my transmission....but.....Of course another problem popped up (Didn't see that coming), the car starts, but when givin any gas it slowly dies...

That's really all I have to go off of to tell you guys, considering the car is still parked not running at the shop, and that's all they told me.

Appreciate any answers or advice!

dam dude....6 months of them trying to fix it? they must not know what they're doing! I duno what's wrong with your car, but I'm willing to bet it happened while your car was at that shop. Was it like that when you brought it in?

First of all, what kind of shop takes 6 months to fix your tranny (unless they held it due to non-payment or something)?

Second, if it was running ok before they worked on it, then they need to fix whatever it is that THEY did to make it not run now. Good places to start looking would be sensors not reconnected, couplers not tight and causing boost leaks, etc.

Also, the ECU needs to "learn" about your air flow and everything again once the battery has been disconnected. So if they didn't let it idle for a while, and then drive it some, the ECU is probably still trying to adjust fuel trims and get the AFR where it should be.

Aside from that, we need more info. Does it die while in neutral, or when under load (while moving)? What type of tranny is it? If it obviously has problems when it tries to move but runs ok out of gear, I'd start suspecting that they didn't do something right... like improper stepping of the flywheel or something.

They said it was an extremely "Difficult" car to work on, and they estimated me $1500, but I'm sure it will be around $2000 or so, wasn't the greatest choice of my life but we all make mistakes. The car still has some pretty nasty Vacuum leaks, could that be it?

What exactly did that $1500 cover?

Any leaks in the airflow path will contribute to poor or unpredictable behavior, whether the car is under vacuum or at boost. So yeah, that could be at least part of your problem.

But I'll say it again... if it was running ok when you drove it into the shop, then it's up to the shop to make sure it drives out as good (hopefully better).

Dude for 1300.00 bucks you could of had a stage 2 shep rebuild, and for 1900.00 a stage 3, anyway yea if they worked on it and now your car doesnt work, tell then and make sure they know that it worked before.

And its not difficult at all.. DSM guys know that, I probably drop mine every other day..

The garage I deal with is very professional, and they pride themselves on never charging OVER the original quote, they do take their time to diagnose the problem fully, and they recognise if a job is better suited sending off to the specialists. Workmanship should always be under warranty for a month at least I think
