So my intake manifold was filled with oil, took it all apart and cleaned it out. i made sure it was dry when i installed it. hooked everything back up, made sure there was fuel in the rail, and it wont start. it turns over but wont run. what could it be?

Nate

What did you use to clean the manifold out with? If the sensors were left in the manifold and it was not cleaned out properly, something may have been damaged. You should also check the vacuum lines coming off the manifold and throttle body, a hose might have slipped off or was split when you were tinkering. Good luck, I hope you get it solved.

If it Turns over and doesn't start, check all the ignition coil, wires.... check the connection on the coil, should be something to do with the ignition.... I've had couple of cars that came into the shop I work at like that, they go to a mechanic, mechanic tells em to clean throttle body, intake or what ever, then car wont start, could be sensors, etc.... double, no triple check everything.... good luck!!

Probably checked it already but... recheck the CAS and make sure the plug is in all the way. :thumb:

hey did you plug in all the sensors. i don't know how many times I've told people to check to see if everything is plugged in at that was the problem.

also behind the manifold did you remember to plug in the knock sensor and the other sensors that hook up to the brace for the intake?

also maybe check to see if your relays and fuses are all good.

Make sure everything is plugged in. Then reset everything by taking of the positive terminal. Make sure the firing order is there. That would the most obvious if you tried a new transistor and that didn't work.

did you take a plug out and stick it on a plug wire and get a friend to turn it over to see if it is sparking? Or did you just assume its not sparking because it wont crank? It doesn't hurt to observe this. Maybe it will help. like another guy on here said the knock sensor is a pretty hidden plug on the back of the intake manifold.

If you test one plug then you know your getting a spark. On my friend car when the transistor was bad The outer two plugs sparked but the inner two didnt spark. So you can test one since you know that your transistor is good. Also my spark plugs used to get too wet and my motor wouldnt crank. If you dry them off it should crank if that is the problem. But first just check to see if it will spark when you pull a plug out and put a spark plug at the end of it. by "it will crank, but wont run" I assume it turns over, but it wont start. am i right. good luck, Austin.

Wow. I just paroozed this thread in hopes of finding something to my delimma. Well, In your post stating the coil order is 4123 I had an idea to go change mine from what the manual says (3214) and the stupid bastard fired right up. :) I've been crying myself to sleep for the last two nights trying to figure out why it wouldn't crank right nor start. Turns out the freakin' manual has a different order (1g and 2g???) and I had it in wrong. Can anyone confirm that the order on the packs is different from 1g, 2g, and the GVR4? 'Cause I have a GVR4 pack from a cyclone and it wasn't how the manual said it was.

I know that 1g and 2g firing order are 4123. And my motor came from a galant vr4 and it is 4123. I assume all 4g63t are 4123. However I dont know about the new evo motors. I have never got a chance to work with evo motors. Also there are other ways to hook it up but i think 4123 is the easiest to remeber. other ways are 1432, 1423, 4123, or 4132. 1 and 4 fire the same time. and 2 and 3 fire the same time. your was backwards and completely wrong. glad I could help ya out. My manual says 4123.
